The only reason they joined is to change the speed limit back from 60 to 80 on the main road though there (17 ave calgary) because they were upset it'd take them an extra 46 seconds to travel that distance.

17th runs right through the middle, 16th is more of a bypass to the north

Nope. 17th hits East Hills and then goes through till about RR 284 then turns in to Chestermere Blvd. Highway runs further North which they turned into a 80 zone from 100st SE till JUST past Rainbow Road.

The 80 change was in favor because of all the accidents that had happened at that area and was also a hot topic of debate for the Chestermere council because some didn't want full access to Rainbow Road to the highway.

Hwy1/16 runs east through the City

17 avenue SE runs through chestermere and turns into Chestermere BLVD just past Range Road 284.

Basically, since city council was elected 4 counsellors including Mayor outvote 3 other councillors on pretty much everything. Since they've come into power they've definitely done some good, but mostly done a lot of shady backdoor deals, improper firings and irregular hirings. Among other "reported" issues that triggered a rare Municipal Affairs inspection. It must of been bad enough that the guy doing the inspection found several issues with city council and the way the city was being ran.

Few years ago, in Thorchild county they wiped out 3 members of council and there was some issues regarding it and they basically got their jobs back. So this time Municipal Affairs went several extra steps and basically gave the City 12 directives to follow which none of them were followed. Some which were almost impossible to attain but they gave them a big enough leash to hang themselves.

Anyway, Mayor has Napoleon complex and thinks he can do no wrong.

My guess is IF Municipal Affairs actually wipes everybody out, it'll trigger obviously a bielection. They'll likely appoint a provincial CAO. They'll likely do a forensic audit on all the financials in the city and find out all the fucky spending, and then guess who will suffer... The tax payers in the city when their property taxes sky rocket to clean up the shit from this mess...
