Default Smith logic, Division = Unity? AHS Split to 4 divisions.

So she states that AHS is too segmented and therefore inefficient, so she solves that, by segmenting it, just differently...?

"Now, the province says it’s creating one provincial healthcare system with “specialized areas of focus” by dividing AHS into four separate organizations, being primary care, acute care, continuing care, and mental health and addictions."
    Additionally
"13 advisory councils will be created, including one Indigenous council, representing regional perspectives and advising these new organizations."

Seems like a unified system to me.

If the healthcare system is broken, I don't think the UCP/Smith are the experts to create an effective solution. they should hire KPMG.

Ask GE how managing many different divisions has worked for them so far

    Management style comes in cycles.

After have 4 regional health systems costed too much overlapping admin cost, we created AHS. 1 CEO cheaper than 4 right?

After AHS created too many red tapes for rural health regions, let's split them up to have multiple CEOs again.

Same in the corporate environment. Round and round it goes. The only negative impact is to the people who receive the service and people who provide the service. Nothing is fixed, more $ to BS management who make money on creating chaos.

Hopefully the endgame of this process is so that when they eventually have to amalgamate everything back into one organization, they can easily cut all the middle-management fat.

That’s the irony of that whole thing, KPMG is universally regarded as the bottom of the bucket of big consultancy firms haha.

For the past 20 years, Rural AHS operates with complete anonymity from AHS in Edmonton who runs in direct competition with AHS in Calgary. It's never been anywhere near a unified system.

Alberta has never had 4 regional health systems. Alberta used to have over 200 public health boards. Then 17. Then 9. Then 1.

4 or 9 basically doesn't change the justification reasons. It's just a bunch of government cronies that will again grabbing sweet executives jobs again.

We will be back in single AHS model in another 15 or so years after a scandal or 2.

In theory, it's just they want a different system for rural vs one for the city which if you learn anything from COVID, may not be a bad idea but it won't cost any less for that flexibility.

AHS is bad, so change it. It remains bad, change it again.

    Problem?

the problem is the significant costs associated with "change for change"

exactly, this is just Smith inserting herself in the highest postition within AHS so she can make bank and push her privatization agenda in the future.

Remove the mid level management and get algorithms working like they do for your Lululemon orders and other purchases.

Considering status quo is literally the most expensive healthcare in the country it’s comical to claim change is expensive.

If you're gullible enough to think that this change is meant to save money, that's on you.

It will continue to be the most expensive in the country, and get to pay for admin and branding reshuffles on top of it.
