    Default Swapped HD for SSD...No increase in speed.

    I cloned my HD to a SSD and swapped it in my personal laptop.

    I was expecting faster boot times and response but it seems to be the same...if not a bit slower.

    The SSD is an older type (approx 10 years) and is twice the size of the HD it is replacing.

    Are there any settings I need to check after the swap ?

    Txs.

    Ive done many HDD to SSD conversion and always noticed a night and day difference.

    what speeds are you getting by running the crystaldiskmark, even with older SSD you should be getting speeds of around 200-300 MB/s

    A 10 year old SSD isn't going to be that great anymore compared to those of today and then you clone the old hard drive full of junk on to it.

    These are two good reasons why it may not be a noticeable difference.

    How long have you been running your OS that you cloned?

    Your lag could be all the malware you've collected over the years and re-instated with cloning rather than starting fresh.

    Win 10. I "cleaned' the drive with AVG and Avast a few weeks before the cloning so it should be clean enough I guess.

    I can backup all the data and do a fresh install as well. No concerns there.

    Always fresh install. There's a bunch of background TRIM junk that Win 10 does to an SSD on fresh install that you don't really get when you clone from HDD to SSD. That being said, I'd still drop the $40 on a brand new SSD instead, since the older ones have a much lower limit to read/writes.

    A bunch of TRIM
    @max_boost is now interested. Ha!

    I'm assuming it's fragmented too now making it not as quick.
    When I did a HD to SSD on my Mac Osx, it was night and day.
