Default VW Brake Bleeding, has anyone done it.

I need to replace both rear calipers on my 2010 Golf but apparently you might need a VAG com in order to do. Am I wrong or is what I'm reading online just people doing it right to the book.

I'm planing on doing rear hubs, and rotors myself so I'd rather save the shop charge but maybe I'll have to bring it in to have the brakes bleed.

Any help or if someone is interested in helping me do the bleed I'll pay you once all the other work is done. Otherwise if you know a mobile mechanic which does that kinda stuff pass along his contact.

    Thanks in advance.

We did my sisters 2009 A3 and had to use a VAGCOM or whatever its called now, VCDS i think

My buddy just had a pirate edition with an ebay cable and it worked fine...iirc it's a single press to run the brake bleed program but I think you need all 4 wheels off and all four bleed nipples open to do it properly

You don't need a scan tool to replace the calipers. The only time that I will run a software based bleed procedure is when replacing the hydraulic control unit or abs pump. Using vacuum, pressure, pump/hold, bleed the right rear then the left rear until air stops coming out and you should be fine.

Thanks for the info....will be tackling the job this weekend, as I got the last of my required parts today. I've borrowed a hand vac pump from a co-worker.
