Photo radar was great. That money is going to have to come from somewhere, and there’s a greater chance it will be out of my pocket. Do not like.
Why does that money have to come from somewhere? How were they operating municipalities for the 100 years before PR existed? How was Edmonton making up the shortfall from 25million to 6 million, when they had the bright idea they could manage it better than some contractor?

Yeah I'm quite sure laser jammers are not illegal in AB. They're illegal in most of North America, but last time I looked into it we could have them here in the wild west.
Yes it's radar jamming that is illegal.

The fact that a single person supports this as a "voluntary tax" or acceptable form of revenue is astounding to me. Give your fucking head a shake!
My thoughts exactly. Surprised to see how many government simps there are here.

The logic that you'd rather see PR than a real cop is not logic at all. Anyone with half a brain should be irate about the theft that is PR. And then if replaced by a more expensive cash cow like speed enforcement cops, then you should be pissed about that too. You already are forced to pay taxes for traffic safety enforcement. The very least you could do, is expect the enforcement agency to actually monitor and enforce road way safety. Even if you're simping to the point that you feel daddy government needs their revenue, and you don't want them getting it from you. Just remember that cops could literally be writing tickets 24/7 to drivers that are impaired by their cell phone.

What is funny about this thread is I keep seeing "cop" and "photo radar" put together when in fact in Calgary at least its not cops at all in these vehicles.

I don't think I've seen anyone put those two together. What are you referring to?

Sorry did some people not realize the people siting in photo radar vehicles picking their noses eating a sandwich aren’t sworn officers?

    They are glorified meter maids

I totally support this as a voluntary tax. Especially now that they're clearly marked and don't hide anywhere
They've gone back to hiding though. They are regularly in their old spot on Northbound Blackfoot again.

Thought new rules didn’t allow it? Take a pic of them hiding and report it.

They don't do shit about it. "We'll look into it"

Tinfoil hat says they get some sort of incentive for # of tickets issued.

How insane would it be to have a photo radar program and NOT generate positive cash flow? Now that would be bad.

The posted news article clearly states they are freezing new photoradars and locations. Existing ones to be reviewed next year.

City of Red Deer is looking at completely transitioning away from their vehicle mounted photo-radar program. Apparently it costs more to administer the program than it brings in.

I guess incomes goes too low once they are clearly marked and they don't have enough volume to justify it.

CPS is back hiding on Deerfoot Trail... rolled past the SB Deerfoot over Glenmore BS hiding spot on Sunday evening.

Caught it in time and slammed my brakes on... there's tons of threads on Reddit (uggg) of people filing complaints, obviously doesn't do fuck all since they still keep going to their usual spots.

I would've thought Redditors would speed through it, turn around and speed through it again so that the city makes more money.

I felt yucky even referencing it... I thought there was a thread on here (or Reddit) about that specific location on Deerfoot and CPS agreeing it was bullshit, but I might have imagined it or something.

i love the DRIVE SAFE on the vehicles
also this is good for 89coupe
I’ve never seen law enforcement on Stoney, ever.

I’m more concerned about all the idiots on the roads, which is 99% of the drivers out there.
