Its been about 10 years but I paid 6K for my house and garage to be fully re-done thru insurance.

About 2000 sg ft in total including replacing some dry rot.

Pricing gotten that bad recently ?
Do you have a 2000 sq ft roof or have a 2000 sq ft home that's 2 stories. One is 2x the other.

I remember when I did mine about 10 years ago it was $12K for shingle and 2x that for composite clay tiles. Since my hood has a gentleman agreement of no shingle, went for composite clay that claim to last 50 years. Given how I have a few left over tiles baking in the sun in backyard, I don't doubt that claim.... so far.

If it's $18K for shingles today, I really won't question it.

    Bump
I'm dealing with hail damage to my house. Initially, I thought the damage was minor, but the insurance company has a different assessment. They’re recommending the removal and replacement of one layer of shingles on the roof, as well as replacing the siding.

I’m looking for reputable contractors who can provide quotes to ensure the insurance numbers align with the actual work needed. Does anyone have recommendations for a good roofer and siding contractor?

    Thanks in advance!

Called the guy Jordan recommended and he was in the Neighborhood and showed up.
Looks like he is very knowledgeable and we are most likely going to go with him.

When "the insurance company says" it's not a bullet proof system. They seem to subcontract out their adjusters to roofing companies who still completely fleece the insurance companies with fraudulent claims to boost their business.
My buddy had a meth head show up as an Adjuster and now he "needs whole new roof and gutters" when the reality is that he could make a discretionary claim for damages downspouts which would totally not be worth it.

    This system sucks.

The meth heads then sub-sub-contract repairs to summer students who haven't ever owned a home who will not gaf about water repellence and then you are fuck.

I'm sure I said something earlier, but maybe it wasn't clear, but I also probably can't be clearer. Dang.

    Thanks for this.
We are dealing with Done Right Roofing. So far he is going a pretty good job. Nothing is finalized yet. He is coming over today to do a proper inspection.

Well we were planning on looking at doing roof work next year, but with the big hail storm and a few big wind storms out here... it can't wait much more. I talked to my insurance and we only have ACV on the roof so we'll probably have to finance some of the repairs.

I've been sending out feelers to get some estimates done while I wait for the advisor to call and the "appointed" contractor to reach out or show up. One concern I have about getting estimates is I've heard its becoming normal for companies to charge a fee to do the estimate. Is there any truth to this? As this is will greatly hamper getting estimates done if so.

Also reached out to Done Right and they aren't taking anymore clients.
