Batteries are good to 5 years. I had a 10 year old boat battery still chuggin. Doesn't mean I trusted it. It was also brought in to the warmth in the winter. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote

Yeah shocks hate -30, even Cadillacs turn into oxcarts at this temperatureThis quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
Change it when you need to. My first battery was 6 years old and survived -30c with that last snap we had. The summer heat was the one that killed it for some reason...This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
It just sucks changing a battery when it's hella cold
Corolla refused to remote start but started no problem with the key. Clutch and trans were barely useable after 10 mins at 2000rpm to try and warm the trans fluid up.
Disagree. Definitely change it as preventative maintenance haha. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
We were running a 8 year old battery, and it decided to die last winter. It just so happened to give up when my MIL came to pick us up (with our car) at the airport. As we were loading our two kids and piles of shit after a return red-eye flight from Hawaii, in -15 weather. Hadn’t slept for easily 24h, and had to sit and wait for FIL to come and boost us, wife and kids had to go kill time for an extra 30mins in the terminal. It was less than ideal.
k that does suck lol. It does have the date on the battery so you can do preventative maintenance! This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
After driving in the deep N.E. later last night, definitely a stud day there. Holy fuck everything is ice. Probably because that’s where the majority of team all season lives. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
It genuinely wasn’t bad at all in the NW. Most intersections had lots of non shiny sections with a ton of grip on non studded.

Guy at work bragging how he has an 11yr old original battery.
Ended up changing the battery after stranded.
Ended up with a tow job and alternator replacement a few days later.
Not a coincidence.

RDX felt like a lumber wagon and 4 year old winters were showing their age... not ideal but still better then 95% on the road.
Savage Fit is tucked in the garage on a battery tender. Just too cold to warm that little lawnmower engine up. Hell the RDX barely warmed up on the drive home last night.
Yeah seems very diffirent in different areas of the city. I took a 2wd truck on Toyo all terrains flat towing my Corolla from just West of Downtown to Airdrie late yesterday and had zero issues, but this morning anywhere East of Deerfoot has completely iced intersections where people who treat the throttle like an on off switch seem to drive. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Not quite all, plenty of car poor students in Audis with all seasons polishing the roads around MRU. Prob not as bad as around NE high schools though. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
Love my “mild hybrid” with a 10HP starter motor.
Not sure there is basically any scenario my X5 won’t start haha
Did find out that when I had it serviced in December and they did a software update they disabled my remote start, apparently I need to dig back into the settings in the car and re enable it lol.

Park it outside starting the previous week. Get the battery area nice and frosty as it never actually gets warm back there driving or not. Do some short trips this week. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
Then go and try to start it this morning.
Fun fact, when the car is off, for safety reasons, the hybrid battery is completely disconnected. Meaning it won't keep the 12V battery charged. If the 12V dies, it won't have power to engage the reconnection the 48V battery so it won't start. Still needs a boost to turn the car on and engage the 48V system. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
Learnt this having to boost my neighbours hybrid after they went away for 2 months and enough 12V shit in the car that it drained the battery. Easy boost, as it needs really minimal 12V power to kick start the system, re-engage the 48V system, then it starts charging it.
