Oddly lucky that the extreme cold ends on a low electricity Saturday and Sunday. Its definitely not warming up even with the sun on sunday.

Bullet dodged? One more day to go before its almost tolerable.

How many people did nothing when the alert showed up?
I was busy making simple syrup so that was essential to the rest of my evening.

Only the furnace was using a high draw and not turning that off

There were more people on Reddit complaining about the ucp and comparing us to Texas than there were people turning off their lights.

Apparently dropped 100mw pretty fast. We turned off a few things, but I kept watching the Taylor Swift game.

Not enough housing or Medicare support.... Now electricity.

But hey, let's keep adding 1 million people a year and see just how fucked up we can make our country!

So it seems AESO has thrown out another grid alert. Looking at the status page (http://ets.aeso.ca/ets_web/ip/Market...DReportServlet) would looking at the generation numbers explain this? I see the total is only at 127 for the DCR.

We’re fine at the moment (ish) but every evening demand ramps up and they anticipate we’ll be short then so they sent the notification to cut load. You can see the battery storages are actually almost empty (dcr of 0) and we’re pulling 400MW already from the interchanges. So with the evening rush it’ll be too much.

Total DCR though is way lower than it usually is, we might’ve used most of our reserves yesterday so this could be even worst tonight.

Coal is producing more than its maximum capacity. Why are we against this truly magical mineral? Bunch of sandbaggers, haha. Oh, and Chappice Lake (CHP1) solar is producing 1 MW in the dark.

Wait, you mean to say that there really is evidence of magic NDP solar panels! Has the shifty Liberal bookkeeping been taken into account?

It'll be a massive money maker that Canada again walks away from.
Where do people expect the money to come from? IT inventions that get stolen in 10 seconds and reproduced by China for a fraction?

Much of it goes to California under an agreement where they apparently don't really have to pay, though.
