Imagine how much colder it would be if not for Alberta's CO2 emissions. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
Getting quite nipply out there, I mean, nippy.
No thanks Jeff.
Honestly, I do miss it sometimes. That freaking sharp bite. Nosebleeds. Eczema. Chinook headaches. Ah good memories.

Everyone's heat pumps and solar panels must be optimal for the most part today.
Heat pump here is being more consistent than in +5ish weather (varied by ~5 degrees then). More industrial application though (small data centre/my office). I'm gonna go shine a flashlight on our solar panels and then recharge it for free! This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
Ironically enough, the colder it is the more efficient solar becomes. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote

My drive to downtown was fine today on studless. Last night was pretty slick though. Saw a new BMW that slid on top of a barrier. RIP.
A single row of solar in winter is very effective.
Not only do you get greater efficiency from the cold, but you also get the snow glare from anything to the south. If you are solar farm with multiple rows, the benefits are greatly diminished, but if you can do one or two long well spaced out rows its win as long as the sun shines.
Mounting near vertical 16 degrees (Calgary at winter solstice) or vertical captures as much sun as the area that the shadow of the panel casts on the ground. Sure its a ridiculously huge shadow if you were to try and capture horizontal to the ground - but of course no one here does it that way.

related, or not, but for remote northern installations, they often install the panels vertical to keep snow off in winter. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote

Almost died yesterday from a guy in a Yukon plowing through a red on barlow cause he cant stop. He ended up on incoming traffic about 20m from the light.
