Agreed. I think sales people need to educate their buyers that the tire needs replacement after being drive on flat though, rather than them finding out that not stopping at CO-OP for a bit of air cost them four tires on their AWD X7…

Someone tried that on me. They thought I would yield. I did not. They literally tried going into a lane that was ending to get around me. There was no room in front of me. They would have gained 1 spot and not going any faster. I have no idea what the thought process there was.

A signal shows your intent to move over. If there's no space, and especially if there's no immediate need (no exits or anything coming up), I'm not going to slam on my brakes to let you in. I'll let off the gas to start making space, or you can wait until I pass and get in behind me.

But also if you've been signaling for like 5+ seconds, and waiting patiently, I'm almost guaranteed to let you in. It's the people that try to line up, start moving over, and touch the signal after they're already halfway in your lane that drive me nuts.

My Drivers Ed instructor was from Hong Kong. He taught me to be pretty firm in "taking" the spaces I need. I don't know how to put it into words, but also, I get the lane changes accomplished. I do signal, obviously, I'm not trying to trick anyone with my maneuvers.
