    Default Home temperature monitoring

So on Friday my kid was still home and called to say the furnace was not running and the house was cold. She left to work and I left work to come home. I got the furnace going again and I have a service call placed.

It got me thinking of what would have happened if it would have died 30 mins later and no one was home for another 6+ hours.

What do you folk use to monitor your homes?

    Thanks

    ecobee.

Sends and alert when it can't maintain temp.

    Same.

Also tells me if it can't communicate with the furnace control board.

    Ecobee. It's best.

Also have "wireless tags" because I am a nerd.

+1 for ecobee. I specifically bought it for my last house for that feature alone. I had a ton of furnace issues once temperatures dropped below - 25 so it was a savior to catch it while I was away at work.

I have ecobee as well. I also have a bunch of aqara temp sensors all over my house. They are fairly cheap and can be integrated with home automation. I have space heaters on smart switches to give colder spots a boost. It's been working pretty good.

    Home Assistant, and Wireless Tags.
    Can't have too many sensors.

Do the Aqara work with the Ecobee? I'd never heard of them but just looked them up and much cheaper than getting Ecobee remote sensors.

Our Daikin thermostat has a notification option. I imagine this a standard feature for any modern thermostat with WiFi capabilities.

No they don't. I'm only using them to trigger my smart switch. There are spots in my house that are 1-2 degree lower. Space heaters can intermittently top it up as required.
I also use them for info. I have one in my garage and basement.

I am supposed to have notifications with my WiFi Honeywell but I've never been able to get it to work. If I wasn't such a cheap fuck I would have them replaced with ecobee.

Running Home Assistant with Aqara sensors. Just setting up a Honeywell T6 Pro as well as I want more control over my furnace.

I mostly started setting up the sensors as a test for my garage to see how it was and decide if I want to freeze my balls if I have to work out there.

What’s the lowest temperature you can set an Ecobee too? I want to tape my google Nest to a tree and put some rounds through it.

Nah that's two ecobees next to each other.

Only criticism I have with ecobee is the air quality sensor they put in them seems to do absolutely nothing.

I get critical air quality warnings when my kid has a bath, either I’m bathing her in water from Chernobyl or something in their algo stinks.
