Curious those of you that keep your garage close to inside temperatures, do you have insulated garage doors?
Yes, well now they are anyway. Triple garage with a double door and two singles (on yard-facing single), when I first installed the heater only the double was insulated (albeit very thinly, I think it was R8) and the singles were just shitty quonset doors with no insulation, so I added some rigid foam to stem the heat bleed. For the second year I replaced the uninsulated doors with an R18 and an R12 which was a huge improvement, and last year I replaced the double with an R16.

Mine is at 10 and is on a schedule to bump to 16 ~30 minutes before I get out there in the morning. Less complaining from the kids when I am getting them in their car seats
Your kids are going to grow up soft haha

I have a 60k btu forced air gas heater in my detached triple. It's 930sqft and I keep it at 12 degrees all the time now since it's fully insulated.

My attached garage is small 400sqft and I also keep it at 12. It's a wall mount forced air gas heater. Waiting to see what my bill is like for this month lol

Legit question, is in floor heating cheaper or more exp than other options.
In floor for a garage causes other issues like too much humidity if there isn’t some dry air being pulled into garage. I imagine a calcana or any other heater I guess that is hooked up to draw outside fresh air vs garage air would have same problem too.

i have a 240v electric, it only operates in F, i set it to the minimum which is 45F(~7c) just to keep things from freezing, will put it up to 65F(~18c) if i plan to go do some work out there.

I have a Caribe radiant tube gas heater and would definitely recommend them. Quiet and efficient

I can confirm that humidity is a problem. Easily solved by opening the door and letting all the air swap out. I have a big line drain, which helps, but the man door still get icy when it is -35.

I set my to 19 when I moved in. Dropped it to 15 this winter and got the "why is it so cold in the garage" from the wife. I told her I am trying to save the planet.

I was given one less ketchup packet today due to single use bylaw. Does that justify heating garage to 22?

I’d say it depends on attached vs detached garage. Attached I’d keep it near The room temperature 24/7, my detached is just above freezing unless I’m working out there.

You remind me of my Chinese friend. He keeps his entire house at +14 all year round. It's a garage, you don't need to heat if it you don't want to. If it's attached to the house....I am sure there are some benefits of keeping it warmer as most people have rooms above the garage that may benefit.

Unless you've got a whole lot of spray cans of various fluids/chemicals, paint, etc.

I keep mine at 12°C unless I'm working out there, then it goes up to 16°C.
