    Default Wall Anchors

Does anyone know where I can pickup some 12x50 wall anchors? I tried HD but they only carried size 10 as their largest. Tried to make it work with the drill bits I had, but ended up smashing one and slightly fucking up another.

I cant imagine you'd want to hang something that requires hardware like that, to a drywall anchor. That's probably why HD doesn't sell them.

It's not the size that matters, it's the taste it leaves in your mouth.

It's just a hose reel, and this the hardware the manufacturer provided. I'm sure it's just overkill for this application.

I'd screw a piece of plywood to your studs and then attach the hose reel to the plywood. I wouldn't trust wall anchors on something like that personally.

A hose reel is essentially mounted through the most flammable vinyl siding on earth and then anchored into OSB, isn't it?
I'd be tempted to use shorter deck screws plus washers. But I've always been nervous about striking a wire as it's on the same wall as my breaker panel, so I have never mounted mine, LoL!

This is exactly what I did for my hose reel.

Your gardener doesn’t bring their own hose?

In all seriousness I am allergic to drilling things into the side of my house. I have a reel that I can wheel around which I prefer.

Hang the reel on a fence. Holes on the house make me anxious.

    Edit: more anxious, I mean.

Oh I didn't even consider this was for a garden hose , I was talking about my air compressor hose in the garage.

My garden hose is in a standalone reel/box thing. Not quite as nice as hanging on the house, but I like it. Uses water pressure to wind the hose back up for you. haha

It's a hose reel for the garage. I definitely would stick it on a post if it was outside. But there's plywood behind the drywall plus the stud, so I just attached it (found a different anchor for the one that was completely busted). Lets see how this holds up...I'll just buy a new hose if this fails.

If there is plywood and a stud behind the drywall, why are you using anchors still?

Stud doesn't hit all 4 holes. But I literally just followed the instructions, fuck me right? We will all find out how long this lasts, when I need someone to fix the drywall lol

I screwed half into a stud and the other half straight into the wall. But I have 3/4 plywood behind the drywall on the wall that divides the garage and house.

you have #12s to hold a hose reel, you have 2 sunk to studs, even a grade 2 is like 1000 lbs each, i think you'll be ok without a the other 2 in to drywall anchors..
