Further to Killys comment about just going to a restaurant. Booking a Chefs Table or Tasting Menu at one of the nicer places, or a private room, is a pretty stellar experience. I highly recommend Rouge for that, as they have actual separate rooms.
We did this ages ago at Vintage. That was mostly good, except two orders got swapped because they were the exact same meal except one was medium rare and the other well done.

Back in the day, there was a restaurant called "chefs table" and they had one actual "chefs table" and I did that and it was good.

Tasting menu at rouge was fantastic too.

My house is small and I don't wants guests over. I'd rather go out.

You realize you are talking to the guy who made his own furniture out of salad bowls right?

I’ve done a bunch of local “chef table/fix menu” meals, rouge is okay… but I think the consensus from the group is still that Roy’s Kitchen, regular old booking with a table order of “just bring us food” is still the favourite

Most women just want a day off from their man's meat, grant her that gift. Double down tomorrow.

I am trying this private chef idea for the first time next weekend.

Wife picked the menu and it sounded pretty good
Well we had the private chef tonight and it was an awesome experience. The chef was very friendly, felt like he was a friend and not a random stranger in our house.
food quality 5/5 and portions were huge so by the main dish the 4 of us were basically full so could not finish our mains.

    menu:

First / 2nd course - bruschetta on toast, Arancini stuffed with tasty stuff (cant recall), big bacon wrapped scallops, mini beef wellingtons. These were big portions basically got us 50% full lol

Third course - a berry salad with champagne dressing and a bowl of awesome butternut squash soup. Again big portions so basically full now lol

fourth course - big chicken cordon bleu, gnocchi with various types of sautéed mushrooms.

desert - amazing lava cake (not overly sweet like what you would get a cactus/joey) with their made from scratch vanilla ice cream.

We had plenty of left overs and the chef brought all of his own gear, serving plates, utensils and left the kitchen nice and clean after. Overall it was an awesome 4.5 hr experience from his arrival to departure. Will definitely do this again later in the year.

Do you mind sharing the cost? Pm me.

    Thanks

$500 they have pricing up on the site depending how many courses. I gave the chef a cash tip on top of that as he was awesome.

As I got a few PMs regarding Red Seal experience the pricing is on the website for their different menu options.

We tried the $125/person 5 course tiered menu found here: http://www.redsealdining.com/uploads...nner_menu_.pdf

Would I do it again? Yes definitely and I would try other food options.

Did I have to tip? The owner told me that if I wanted to tip it was up to me. The chef that was assigned to our dinner was awesome so I gave the guy $100. So its up to you if you want to tip.

From start to finish it was about 4.5 hrs

From my understanding they have 3 chefs + the owner who is also a chef. So i guess luck of the draw on who you get but they are all allegedly highly experienced.
