Sums up the race
Explain to a newb this:
Lap 45? Stroll pits, and takes hard tires, announcers are all excited about him getting fresh tires, and being able to make some moves (seems unlikely being Stroll.)
And there's a lot of chatter about how in lap 2 everyone might try and go all the way to the end, so 72 more laps?, on the tires they are on, mix of hard and mediums early on IIRC.
When Lewis, Verstappe, and a handful of others all pit in lap 52?, they all grab hard tires, despite there supposedly being longer lap times with hard tires.
With only ~20 laps to go, wouldn't they be better off taking those mediums and trying to snake another position?
At first I was thinking maybe the mediums might degrade to fast being pushed hard, but considering half the teams though about running them for 70 laps, I cant see how beat up they would be after 20 laps.

You need to be 5s a lap faster to have a chance at an overtake if the driver in front doesn’t make a mistake. Mediums weren’t faster than hards. There was essentially zero deg on both tires. This was well known before race start. If max couldn’t pass Russell being 3s a lap faster, nobody was making a pass without capitalizing on a mistake. I don’t think anyone had fresh mediums either.
In other news Indy 500 last laps was a banger. Poor McLaren another 2nd place (and 3rd). Pato had a too soon jr pass for the lead, and lost it on the final lap.

Never thought to say an indy oval race is more exciting than an F1 race, but that was it on Sunday.... Pato fucked up imo... he shouldve held onto the draft longer than 1 lap left. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
btw: wtf u doing in my hood today?
Interesting that Red Bull will resign Perez for 1 year and not Sainz. That Mexican sponsor $$$.
Fun stat: Logan Sergeant has out qualified Perez 5 times
This true? Damn that Carlos Slim got insane pull if so.This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote

Monaco finished with the top 10 in the exact same order as qualifying was. First time in history apparently and just shows how much of a snoozefest the race itself it unfortunately.
I really hope they find a way to shrink the cars, there's been talks of trimming the weight but honestly they also need to focus on the physical size as well. Go back to how narrow the cars were pre-hybrid era and try to make it easier to race side by side in tighter areas.
I'm sure the solution is bigger tracks in more US cities instead. lol. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
EDIT:
Sainz to Williams now RBR door is shut?

How is that going to work if he got to share a car with Albon?

Outside of changing the track to allow more passing and sticking with the "classic" nature of Monaco, I think that for the race there should be no radios. They need to use the classic sign boards only. Might help avoid all of the pacing and backing up the pack and other nonsense. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
I still love Monaco Quali and atmosphere though and would hate to see it off the calendar.
Sitting out Canada was the least of his worries. Who will take him in? Does Toto still have obligations/affiliations to him?

I think this might be it for his career unless some other team sees some value.
That's what I was thinking, although the internet seems to think he might go to Haas (maybe?) or Audi (lol, unlikely).
Monster Jam
Toto is his manager, so.... yeah! This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
I feel his Plan A is Audi if Sainz goes elsewhere, if that doesn't pan out then he'll angle to replace Magnussen at Haas. Haas will be in no hurry to sign anyone and will give Kmag the chance to get his season figured out. Everyone says Bearman is a guarantee for Haas next year but his F2 season so far has been dreadful - if they decide to let him marinate for another year we could seriously see a Kmag-Ocon pairing which could be maximum chaos.
That's a shocker; 2 year extension. Wonder if his performance will improve with the pressure off.
Makes sense. RBR wouldn't want to do anything to piss off maxi pad by bringing in a more competitive driver to fight him in the midst of all the turmoil happening within the team.
