Have had the McLaren one for 2 or so years and haven’t opened it yet. Was supposed to be a project over one Christmas which never ended up happening. Can add the Merc one to the list now, haha.

Thinking might be cool to sit on them for several years and build them together with my son down the line when he’s older. Tho since he’s only 8 months right now, will be waiting a long time. Haha.

My first kid, our pup certainly wishes he could help me. Haha.

It’s a technics kit, I’d say around 8-10 years old before they have the motor skills and ability to follow Lego directions to tackle these builds where you’re not doing 1/2 of it.

Yea for sure. Though, I am thinking more like 4-5 yrs of age when he doesn't necessarily have to help me, but just gets to do what I say and enjoys the experience. But either way, we are definitely talking long term.

My advice? It's just 2 Lego cars, and they're for you. Build them while you're interested in them, enjoy them, there will be PLENTY of bonding shit to do with your boy when the time comes. I've got buckets of Lego mine liked for awhile and then moved on.

Hell, I remember a great afternoon of carefully excavating a fossil from one of those clay bricks you get from the Tyrell museum with hidden plastic dinosaur inside, after a day trip to Drumheller. The older kid was big into dinosaurs and it meant more to me because we were doing something HE really liked. We got them Lego every Christmas/Birthday/whatever but that dinosaur is what I remember.

If you're a good dad, you'll always find things to do with your kids. The kid is going to remember the time with Dad, not what model was built, so don't get hung up thinking he's going to be in awe of some 2024 Lego model. When the time comes just go get the latest 2030 one off the shelf, and he'll enjoy building that just as much, and maybe more when he gets to add the one HE helped with beside the other ones that only Dad could do!

Ya I don't disagree with that necessarily. However, the main reason the McLaren one has been sitting untouched for 2+ yrs is not because I am specifically saving it, it's more so I just haven't gotten the time/energy to make the commitment. I have never built any lego kits before so while it will be fun, I am pretty sure it will be very time consuming so I just haven't bothered giving a go at it. I won't necessarily 'save' it for the 5 years or whatever, but wouldn't be surprised if I never get to it anyway. Haha.

    You always buy 3.
    1 to build
1 to keep in a box
1 to sell, a decade down the road, to cover the costs of the first 2.

    Do the same with Scotch/Bourbon/Whisky.

    Profit.

I drank the first, forgot, popped the second, got blackout from that, then dropped and smashed the third.

    When does the profit come?

Albon’s chassis too damaged to continue using and Williams doesn’t have a spare. Sargeant being asked to sit out the race to give his car to Albon

I'd LMAO if he writes off their second chassis in FP3 and Williams can't race at all.
