    Default Arcade 1Up Cabinet Games

We recently stayed at an AirBnB in US that had a full size, 2 player cabinet.

But instead of just 1 or a few built in games, it had a list of over 1000 games, and when switching to a new game it would load in about 30 seconds.

The games were all older, the newest being Tekken 3. But it was very cool to have such a wide selection.

Is there a version of this, a full size cab setup, that can run newer games also?

Get an old PC and buy LaunchBox Premium. It will run most platforms.
There's lots of free options, but LaunchBox/BigBox has the best UI and user experience.

Does LaunchBox come preloaded with all the ROMs available or do you need to find each game you want?

With any launcher, you'll need to get your own roms. Start here : https://archive.org/details/retro-roms-best-set

look up retropie, but beware, it is a very very expansive rabbit hole.

also look up arcade punks, they have some customized launchers loaded with roms (legality is questionable)

More to OP's question, I have not seen full size versions of Arcade 1ups other than the really expensive one at Costco.

Pandora Boxes can be hooked up to any TV and more plug and play to give a more full size experience

I've got a raspberry Pi running Retropie and all the old MAME roms.

My plan is to build an arcade stick, plug the raspberry pi in and then plug into the TV. I don't really want the full arcade cabinet.

yeah you could easily make a fight stick that you even put the pi inside and even potential for usb input to have 2 units for 2 player.

    this one is pretty popular

I have an X-arcade 2p stick, hooked up to my mini pc with mame running in the home theater. Also have the sega emulators outside of mame for running sega rally, sega GT, Daytona USA etc games with the fanatec wheel.

I’ve also had an arcade 1up but that stick bit the dust very quickly. It’s basically the cheapest arcade hardware ever. My x arcade stick is like 20 years old.

Off topic, but if anyone is looking for a handheld, the Miyoo Mini Plus is badass! ~$100 on Amazon or $75 on AliExpress. This thing is the bomb, especially with the Onion OS. Thousands of games preloaded, doesn't really need anything and playable straight out of the box. I'm playing a ton of old games on a nice backlit screen and my inner child is crying tears of joy. Device itself is a nice size and light. Battery is replaceable too.

This scene has exploded since you don't need much of a SoC to emulate.

Yup bought one couple of months ago and it's awesome, I chose the MM+ over the Anbernic alternative because of the size.
pretty sweet being able to play PS1 games on the go and now NDS means I can play Tetris DS anywhere.
Waiting for Onion 4.3 to come out.

How do these companies that sell the devices with 100+ preloaded games not get copyright lawsuits out the ass?

    China.

I think a lot of them don’t include anything, and you have to load the bins and zips yourself.

But sold through Amazon.ca? There must be some legal loopholes, I just don't see them.

There's an ecosystem that by the time Nintendo finish with the investigation and serve the seller, another 20 sellers would have popped up with another version of device/brand. You would waste more money on lawyers than what you could claim for damages.

Even if you get them all off Amazon, IP means nothing in China, people will just buy it off Temu and Aliexpress instead.

Also, Amazon units tends to say 10K games supported vs Aliexpress page of the same unit say 10k games included. There is also no honor among thieves. A lot of component manufacturers will have no problem selling PCB boards that someone else came up with for other to make a buck. So you see a lot of variation of the same thing over and over again.

And this is just an easy packaging. I have all emulators up on an Old S20 Ultra with a Razer Kishi Controller.

You ever notice that in the classic game "whack-a-mole", there's always more moles?
