Outskirts schools with all the new no/low taxpayers.
So which schools are below 75% capacity?
Ultracrepidarian
Car2go was fun when I had so many free minutes
Why didn't the density opponents demand the proper infrastructure be built for this? Why were high schools like Nelson Mandela, Robert Thirsk, Joanne Schubert-Cardinal, and Ernest Manning all built with less capacity than schools like Crescent Heights, Western, and Wise Wood? This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. If we look at one of the great 'density donut' zones (Zone 6) and an inner city zone (Zone 7), it paints things pretty clearly. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
Wise Wood is a high school now at 100% capacity (was hovering around 90% for a couple years there, and E.P Scarlett is now over capacity. Yet their feeder schools from elementary through junior high are all under capacity, with a number of the schools even being converted away from Regular programs (i.e. Windsor Park is now the homeschooling centre, which pushed everything over to Elboya, or Canyon Meadows being a Spanish instruction school, Nickel becoming a self-directed school).
Banting, Braeside Cedarbrae, Chinook Park, Johnson, Coste, Haysboro, McClung, Riverbend, Sherwood, Woodlands are all K-5/K-6 schools not operating at full capacity, with only Haysboro and being above 75%. For Junior High Schools, the only one at capacity is Luis Riel, which has an attendance area that includes everything west of McLeod Trail and south of Glenmore. Otherwise you have Woodman at 60%, Panabaker at 79%, and David Thompson not even breaking 90% despite being the designated school for French Immersion for the SE in addition to regular 7-9 programs (Elboya is similar).
Yet Wise Wood and Scarlett are at capacity. It's because Scarlett is also the designated school for Silverado, the community south of Silverado, Legacy, and whatever is being built south of Legacy, because Centennial couldn't handle anymore. So there's a weird gap in the attendance area (the same goes for Beaverbrook being the designated school for Rangeview and Hotchkiss, since Cardinal-Schubert can't handle anymore, and Beaverbrook has more capacity).
Similarly there's an under-capacity Central Memorial High School served by under-capacity Junior High Schools (A.E. Cross, Bishop Pinkham, Vincent Massey). Parents in Discovery Ridge were mad when their kids couldn't go to Manning despite it being closer and a much easier travel route because it was full so their kids got diverted to Central instead. So it's the new neighborhoods that don't have the infrastructure to deal with the added growth, the available capacity is further in.
Car2go was so damn handy, and I used to mow down kids in them to help with school capacity issues.

I guess there really isn't a replacement for home schooling. Never over capacity.

Recall petition results are out.
69,344 total signatures were received by the city and it cost the city $30,000 to deal with. Out of the required sample size of 369, all 369 signatures failed to be valid due to not following the required procedures. Ignoring that 10% weren't valid because of invalid information.
1 verified duplicate in 70,000.
There goes that red herring.

What is the Notice of Recall Petition? How many people voted for her in the election?

Guessing that’s just putting your signature down rather than signing the long form

Recall petition against Calgary’s mayor deemed insufficient | Globalnews.ca
Bit more info here. Still not sure what that means but I think it's that the paper you sign needs to contain some of the petitions info on that page. You can't just have a front info page and then have people sign a blank spreadsheet sheet. Probably so people can't bait and switch signatures and say you signed a different cause.
“The chief administrative officer, and myself as his delegate, must exclude the name of a person whose signature appears on any name or form that does not contain the notice of the recall petition,” Martin said.
Yeah every signature page needed to have the recall petition on it, not just the first page with a bunch of signature pages behind it.
lol 0 for 369 is pretty hilarious.
Petitions are harder than you think!
