Calling it an HFS (Heritage Fund Saving) is direct and feels like it's building towards something.

Frankly the more money we can keep in this province for this province, the better.

Blanketing a PST for uses like 'healthcare' and 'education' vague ticket items means it will get lost in admin bullshit no one ever experiences anything positive from
Unlike money that's in the Heritage Fund?

Lets be honest here. Her Alberta pension idea blew up in her face, so now she's trying to find other ways of taking Albertans money, for government investments.

Her pension plan was likely a wake-up for Albertans on how truly fucked they're getting by the rest of Canada, she must have known it would have to be nearly impossible to implement. So in that regard it was probably a successful marketing campaign.

She knew that the pension idea wouldn't fly. It's just a way to distant more Albertans from the Lib Feds

    The word Heritage triggers me.
We should change it to Hisitage.

Honestly, I would happily pay +1% on everything i buy just to capture back some Alberta earned money that spent out of province.

Freaked out the other Premiers since they all know without the Alberta cash cow everybody else is fucked.

Right?? I don't understand how this wouldn't go over as long as its correlated with a reduction in income tax.

Dump income tax in proportion with PST rate.

The Ontario Teachers' Pension Plan has total assists around $250 B. I think Smith is wanting to do the same to our Heritage fund.

I think she's done a great job since taking office. Other Calgarians agree with me, her approval rating in Calgary has gone up since the election

I think the majority of the voters in the province would be ok with it. It's the people that it will impact the least and benefit the most that take exception to a provincial tax. Many of my friends from the high-middle to upper class feel the same way is I do. It's the chumps on AISH that are complaining.

Looks like Nenshi announced his bid for AB NDP

Former Calgary mayor Naheed Nenshi announces bid for Alberta NDP leadership | CBC News

Nenshi joins a field of five candidates that includes Edmonton NDP MLAs Jodi Calahoo Stonehouse, Sarah Hoffman and Rakhi Pancholi, as well as Calgary MLA Kathleen Ganley and long-time labour leader Gil McGowan.

Not that I'd join the NDP, but whoever runs on breaking away from the federal ndp would have my vote.

If nenshi becomes leader does that gain the ndp the votes they need for Calgary ridings?

ThinkHQ's poll found that 39 per cent of Calgarians say they approve of the performance of Nenshi, compared with 55 per cent who disapprove — 37 per cent of them strongly, the firm said in a news release
From his last term as mayor, do what you will with that info. I don't think he'll poll as strong as Notley did.
