    Default Fuel Injection Service...How to...

I recently bought a Valvoline "Gasoline Direct Injection" Fuel System cleaning kit. It was a cheap auction buy.

Consists of : Intake Cleaner / Fuel rail Cleaner and a Gas System Treatment.

Looking to use this on my sons 2017 Jeep Cherokee (3.2 V6...Approx 167K)

I can add the tank stuff obviously but what would I need for the Intake and Fuel rail Cleaner...

Is a kit available for rental / Loaner...Anyone got one to loan in exchange for beer / karma etc ??

    Thanks.

For the bottle sure...I'm sure the other stuff requires equipment.

Whether you think it is snake oil or not, I have it and would like to use it on my sons Jeep.

Might as well do it right.

Doing it right would be not using those snake oil fluids. There is a reason why a proper cleaning for direct injection vehicles is so expensive for.

    This is what you need:
    https://www.amazon.ca/Injector-Clean...bb2aa14262bd73

The BG chemicals are the mostly widely used. I'm fairly sure BG gives the shop the kit for free if they buy enough flush kits. And each kit comes with tokens that the technician can cash in for money as an incentive to sell more.

One of the cleaners gets misted into the intake system. It is supposed to clean the throttle body and the intake ports. Cleaning the throttle body actually has some benefits, but this is not the proper way. The cleaner can wick past the throttle shaft and damage the drive motors and potentiometers. For the injector cleaner, you remove the fuel feed line and connect the pressurized cylinder and run the engine off of the cleaner. You will have to clear a bunch of fuel pressure and mixture adaptation trouble codes after. I have scoped the fuel rail pressure sensor signal to monitor how much fuel each injector is pulling out of the rail, before and after cleaning. There was no change. So far, no one has a chemical cleaning system that can remove GDI carbon build up on intake valves. Apparently, the ATS carbon system works the best for chemical cleans, but it's like 5 grand. And still some say it doesn't work well.
When you perform these chemical cleans, the exhaust smokes like a bastard. Your neighbors may call the fire department.
All of these chemical flushes are called "wallet flushes" all they do is take money out of your wallet and provide no actual benefit to the vehicle.

Yeah, there just aren't many liquids that can truly perform the duty of mechanical agitation.

For the intake, run a tiny hose into a vacuum line near throttle body or pop a intake coupler off jam a small house in there. Get it reasonably sealed up and on so it'll run.
Run car while slowly tipping bottle. Motor will bog a bit. Back it off so you don't stall it.
If you really want to do it.

Injectors you'll need a tee and some lines.
