Default Wireless Over Ear Headphones Advice

    Hey all,

I am in the market for over ear wireless headphones. I have in ear AirPod Pro ear buds but I find them, and any brands for that matter, to get painful to use after even a relative short period of time. I like to listen to tunes but also watch a lot of movies and shows with headphones, and also while working in my home office, so max comfort is a requirement. Noice cancelling too.

I have been looking at the AirPod Max and am considering those, but are they really worth the price tag compared to other offerings? Online info all seems like propaganda so I would rather hear from my local peeps...

    Cheers!

    Bob

Anker soundcore lineup is the budget option and they score decently at rtings. Available on amazon.
Sony and Bose are also good options.

Budget is not so much the goal and getting your moneys worth. I don't mind spendy when I am happy with what I am getting. This said, I have bad tinnitus so maybe aspects are lost on me. As such I am not a purist for audio equipment, but I do like good. Comfort, especially being a glasses wearer, is paramount as well.

Style of glasses matters a lot. Some frames are thinner and tighter to you skull so the headphone pad distributes pressure better.

Kind of normal plastic frames so average with and thicker than metal frames.

I am thinking I may want to go in and test fit before committing...

AirPods Max are not worth the money imo.

I’ve had a bunch of Bose anc headphones, and they’ve all been great. Qc45 is what I have now, and unfortunately I bought them just a few months before the quietcomfort ultra came out. Recommend either of those for sure. My wife and I both have qc45 and haven’t been bothered with glasses. The only thing with any over ear headphone and glasses, is anc won’t work as well as when you don’t have glasses on since the ear cups can’t get a perfect seal.

I've been hearing Sonos is coming out with a set soon I think. I dont really use over the ear, but I might splurge for those for flights.

I wear glasses and I have been using Sony WH 1000xm4 for 4 Years no complaints at all.
IMO they are really good and they just do the job for me.
XM4 is not longer available and they have been replaced with XM5. I think they are similar in construction however I never tried it so I can't comment on how they will be with glasses.

Loving this setup and more comfortable than headphones as they rest on your ears, no ANC but once I wear them and have music playing, I can't hear anything else anymore.

Spent less than 100$, Linsoul SIMGOT EW200 on TRN BT20 XS wireless headset

My commuter/everyday earphones for the past 2 years are the Sony Linkbuds

Price no object I'm getting the B&W px8. Focal also makes s pair of high end wireless but I'm not a big fan of their sound signature (others love it so YMMV).

Not sure if Drop is making the Panda but they're awesome

Anker Soundcore Q30 has been good to me thus far - noise cancelling was awesome on the airplane. And sitting at the desk next to the p1s running. Is kind of annoying it automatically goes into transparency mode when it turns on and seems to amplify certain noises - but...

Not very base heavy like my Steelseries Arctis 5, comforts kinda meh, prefer the arctis's pads and head strap. Gotten a few solid 6-8hr sessions with them on without power issues so - they're decent so far for that.

Anker Q30 are great. Been using mine for over 2 years and they are very very close to my wife's Bose at triple the price.

I do prefer the in ear Anker's for travel as I like to pack light, but around the house they are great and they block out almost all of my wife's and mother in-law's nagging.

VagMightier just got these. Suspiciously cheap.

I have set of Seinhausers. I tried my girlfriends Sonys and I was very impressed. I found the comfort and sound range better. I read up on reviews and Sony comes up top a lot.
If I had to buy a again I would opt for the Sony hands down.

Well apparently I'm a little bitch and can't resist the pull of Apple. I have so much of their shit I might as well add these too. I was spending far too much time researching and it was between the Sony WH 1000xm5 and these. There was a 13% off sale on the Apple Store on Amazon so I impulsively ordered them even though the Sony would have more than likely still been better value. I figure if I get them and not impressed I will do a return. One thing I will say is I have never had an Apple product shit the bed so I do have quality confidence and that had a lot to do with it.

Report of thoughts once they arrive to follow....

If you love the apple ecosystem, I usually recommend buying apple products. Because Apple is very good at getting people to like the next apple product they buy.
