    I dunno. I find every windshield after the first one breaks much quicker for some reason. My theory is they aren’t mounted the same.
    Best windshields I've ever bought, by a country mile, came from Auto Glass Solutions on 51ave in Edmonton. Mine are a decade old and still don't look like Ace Ventura.

    Crazy cheap. None of the chips spidered. Didn't actually crack for about 7 years. Low sand blasting effects, as well. Just endless win!

    Stupid question: what does windshield/glass insurance cover anyway. When can you claim it and and does it affect your premium?
    This was going to be my next question....

    - So it covers a non-OEM windshield... which sounds like might only be ~$370 if shit doesn't need to be re-calibrated.
    - You have to pay a deductible, mine is $250.
    - Premiums aren't effected... or at least not technically... but they can jack your rates for whatever 'reason' they want.
    - The key coverage is that is covers the pano sunroofs... or atleast I think it does. But apparent I have no fucking clue what my coverage actually is so fuck me.

    Move to BC. Starter homes are 1.7mill but at least you never have to change your windshield again.

    Fuck I don't miss that shit at all. Get new windshield.....random mattress in fast lane on Deerfoot comes flying through new windshield on your drive home from windshield shop.....get new windshield....repeat infinitely.

    Booking a new window every 24 months is a small price to pay for living in the blue sky city.

    My understanding is that the pano roof is covered on the limited glass coverage. Its only the windshield that it affects.

    I'll be that guy...

    In alberta - windshields are a wearing item. Like brakes. 370 for aftermarket, - 250 deductible - why are you trying to claim it to save 120$? vs 1000some for OEM - still - Not something I'd run through insurance.

    Never understood trying to claim windshield on insurance save for - got broken in a wreck. But that's me.

    Most people treat insurance like a payment plan for expenses they don’t want to pay out of pocket.

    It’s actually very on brand.

    The 13D-Limited Glass endorsement removes coverage for accidental breakage of glass (all glass) which almost exclusively means rock chips & cracks on the windshield. If you're unlucky enough to get one of those spontaneously exploding sunroofs, that wouldn't be covered either. You would however still be covered, subject to your deductible, for glass damaged by way of something like vandalism (someone trying to break into your car) or a collision. So if you roll your car and break the pano-roof, you're covered.

    With that said, I've yet to see a client's pano-roof damaged in any way.

    Edit:
    Here's the actual wording (legal fine print) of the 13D endorsement:

    The Insurer shall not be liable under Subsection 3 – Comprehensive of Section C – Loss of or Damage to Insured Automobile for loss or damage to glass unless such loss or damage is caused by:
    • impact with a live undomesticated animal;
    • another automobile striking the described automobile when the described automobile is not in use or operation;
    • fire;
    • lightning;
    • theft or attempted theft;
    • windstorm;
    • earthquake;
    • hail;
    • explosion;
    • riot or civil commotion;
    • falling or forced landing of aircraft or parts thereof;
    • rising water;
    • the stranding, sinking, burning, derailment or collision of any conveyance in or upon which the automobile is being transported on land or water; or
    • vandalism to windows other than the front window.
    If more than one automobile is Insured under this Policy, this endorsement applies only to the automobile(s) described under item(s) number …….. of the
    schedule of automobiles attached to and forming part of the Policy or as listed in the Certificate of Automobile Insurance.
    Except as otherwise provided in this endorsement, all limits, terms, conditions, provisions, definitions and exclusions of the Policy shall have full force and
    effect.

    If any of the glass, including sunroof / pano-roof are damaged in an accident then that falls under the collision or liability portion of the policy.

    Yea I thought that's was what I read on here previously. You need full glass coverage for random exploding sunroofs (which are a thing). Friend had their regular peasant Civic sunroof explode randomly on Deerfoot a month or so ago, not covered. Like $1k for a tiny ass 2'x3' sunroof.
