Default Lexus IS valley plate leak

    I have 2018 IS300 AWD …

Sooo apparently this valley plate leak thing, it leaks and results in pink coolant everywhere, more common in the GX, IS-F and RC-F but was discovered on my car during 96k service (non Lexus service)

Anyway apparently can cost $1500 to fix but some got it covered under 6y/110k powertrain warranty.

Going to Lexus tmr and hoping for the best. Just curious anyone else experience? Thx.

Toyota's crappy pink coolant likes to make those crusties where other coolants wouldn't leak at all, in my experience. I swear it's a scheme to keep customers coming back to dealerships, and thus, browsing showrooms. Hopefully warranty has you covered.

$1500 isn't outrageous for this work. Gasket is probably $50 but the work to get there. Lots comes off given the picture above.

I've paid $1600 at LoC for brakes. $1500 for that work is actually pretty fair to be honest, but yeah free under warranty is better.

If you go to LoR, take it to Chris the service manager there, he's reasonable. Al at LoC can be alright too...at times.

Yeah well I wonder how they get the soft flowing caramel inside the Caramilk bar but you don't see me making a god damn thread about it. Slap your wife Baygirl, straighten him out.

+1 for $1500 being peanuts for that work. It’s the principle that a relatively new car would have a problem like that, that kinda sucks. But it’s not an outrageous pill to swallow.

Check your in-service date to see when your warranty coverage started. Would be shitty if you were a month past the expiry. Good luck man. Free is best. I got my turbos replaced 2 weeks before my powertrain warranty expired. Would of been OOP I think $6-8K cant remember what the warranty price tag for the RO was

Actually not a valley plate leak

some water bypass joint thing, since it's not a moving part, powertrain won't cover. expensive because 10h labour to do it, gotta drop the engine blah blah so $2500 repair bill

saul good man, cannabis stocks just spiked, even stevens seinfeld lol

Common Toyota issue sadly, have to likely do it on my LX in the future. If it’s anything like the 5.7, it doesn’t really damage anything so long as you keep coolant topped up. It’s also worth researching if you should address the water pump while it’s apart.

Can you bring it to like VS One or those recommended Beyond repair shops for half the labour?

Yea for sure but seeing how this a somewhat specific specialized repair I’ll just let the dealer do it

I just dropped 3G's for an Oil Cooler and Rear main seal on my kids Jeep Cherokee.

    1500 seems like a steal right now...LOL.

Esp since it’s a one time fix for a Lexus, and that Jeep will cost you another $3k next year
