I don’t mind leasing my phone, I only have one at a time and I never have use for the old one.

Couldn’t care to sell it on the used market and the buybacks are worse than the lease.

The better deal is to finance the phone if you like to stay on the newer end of the models. Always...

The kicker though is to deal hunt and you occasionally have to switch carriers. Currently i am with Rogers on a 50gb $50 plan with a $15/mo iphone 15 pro. $65/mo on the latest phone and 50gb unlimited plan is a better deal than getting a BYOD deal while buying a phone outright. Yes its a save an return plan but the math works out:

BYOD Rogers:

$34 50bg BYOD Plan x 24mo
$1449 Iphone

$2265 over 2 years

Current Plan

$65 plan and phone x $24mo
$590 Buyout for the return

$2150 over 2 years

Its even better if you buy out the phone and sell it for a couple hundred more then repeat the process.

Maybe just non-Apple things, but last time I had a carrier subsidized phone the manufacturer told me to claim warranty through carrier, carrier told me to claim through manufacturer.

As long as you align your contract to black friday or back to school, usually you don't have to switch carriers. They all match each other to retain customer.

15min actually. Name me another task you can do with your life that earns $115 worth of value for 15 mins. That's one dimensional thinking. Also, that $1500 you would have spent on a phone can earn 8% per year in a TFSA. So now thats $365 of value over two years.

Also, i use m2m AppleCare on all of my devices so warranty is never a problem. Its always consistent and decoupled from a carrier. If you are looking for the carrier to help you with warranty, you are doing it wrong to begin with.
