Having 3-4 months off to recover from sternum surgery, having Euro Cup to watch every morning is my highlight. Will Argentina and Messi just dominate Canada and Alphonso on Thursday? (my coworker's uncle is Alphonso agent)

I cheer for France. France vs Portugal for finals!!

Serbia pulled one back in the last second!! OMG... that must have hurt.

Today feels good.... why? Cos England are playing.... Game kicks off in 35mins. dj_rice...why area you cheering for France? There is only one team in this tournament that is going to win. Listen to your feelings, deep down you know its England. Come forth, embrace the truth and be enlightened.

2-0 to England is my prediction..

Spain Vs Italy later.... 2-1 me thinks.

    This is painful.
We struggled against a country that has a main export of pork products. This is unacceptable. I won't be eating ham sandwiches till the next game.

I think England have the same problem they had in the late 90s and 2000's. They are putting in good players in the wrong place.

    Spain and Italy next.

Italy played like England but the Italians made it look stylish...

Poland and Austria is kicking off... 1-1 me thinks.
Dutch and France after... 1-2 to France with Mbappe scoring.

Does COPA America need it's own thread? Argentina is much better than Canada, still hoping we can escape the group stage.

Canada had some decent opportunities but it could have been 5 or 6 - nothing relatively easily.

No. All is welcome. But COPA America is like going to a thrift store or yard sale. Lots of junk stuff but you find the odd treasure (i.e Brazil vs Argentina).

Im surprised it was only 2-0. Peru plays Canada on Tuesday.

Im watching the end of the Poland vs Austria game. The smaller teams have more bite. But Poland's defense is terrible.

    It's a good question. I don't know.
The world cup has changed a lot. I don't think FIFA are doing a good job just over the last decade or more.
Europe vs South American teams was a interesting battle over technical ability vs Talent and flair.

The Euro's is a lot more technical. The last France vs Netherlands is a good example of this. Even with smaller teams, they can put up a fight. See the England vs Denmark game.
The world cup brings a lot of good players and teams having to fight it out. The play is varied but you got a mix of good and bad and really bad. Some teams should just not be at the world cup.

At this stage any trophy or England is good. They have the talent but keep cocking it up.

A brit? What team did he cheer for? Britain sends multiple teams from thier interior regions.

Now there's an idea, send a team from the country if great Britain. They'd be decent.

I dunno about that. Euro is just the exact same teams with less competition. SA players all play on European club teams. Imo WC is more difficult. Euro is what you watch when it's not WC. But agreed there are definitely teams that shouldn't be there however they're usually weeded out by round of 16

Today is when you all will see how football shall be played.
Thats right.... England play today. Get your tea, munchies and snacks.

The games yesterday were crazy. Croatia nearly got through.

Scotland are out... bahahahaha. I have not idea what they were doing in the tournament in the first place. Its like the awkward teenager at the parents party.

SA players may play in Europe, they defo do not play the same way with the national teams. Brazil does not play like Germany or Spain.
We managed a bar in the NE many years ago. We had a indian cook that made great food, burgers etc. But when he got home. He was making chicken and vegetables curries for his family. Not a cheeseburger in sight.

I don't think the world cup is harder. Its more of a slog through it that makes it difficult. Euros is more technical. At the world up, you may have to play Tunisa, Saudi Arabia or Jamaica. After those games I sure the higher tier players are asking what the hell am I doing with my life?

The format of the world cup is changing. Time will tell if it is good. I just think there will be a lot more lower level teams.
