does anyone have stats on how we compare to the 2004 playoff team? I faintly recall that the flames hadnt made the plays off for like 7-8 years and they went into the playoffs on the backs of Kipper as well as the underdogs. Is the stars aligning itself again?

for the playoffs, you really just need a hot goalie and a team who can beat any team on any night by outworking the other side which the Flames have shown this year. The only issue is a team like that can barely survive during the regular season.

If Conroy can somehow bring back Sam Bennett by trade deadline...

16 wins is all it takes. That being said, while this is a nice story, I don't think we have any legit shot against the likely 1st round opponents. I'm not even convinced it's likely we hang on to that wild card spot.

Flames can't score and don't have enough skill.

Flames team in 2004 were a bunch of oafs that could clutch and grab and trap their way to the finals. Not repeatable in this era of skilled NHL.
