I'm WFH today and I had no idea. Seems our network drives are functioning, and I just put in an order with a supplier that seems to have gone through.

Fine for me too. Someone on one of my engagements had an issue with powerdesigner, but that's all I've heard so far.

Lots of big organizations uses Crowdstrike which released an update sometime last night causing all Windows servers and computers to continuously BSOD
Big screw up for sure, no proper testing and releasing it close to a weekend.

Crowdstrike is a cybersecurity app installed on end-user PCs and servers. Personally, I use a Mac for work, but my company uses SentinelOne instead, so we're not impacted.

On top of the crowdstrike outage (which is a use lift to fix, because you need to go into safe mode), there's also an Azure outage.

Typically servers aren't patched on a Thurs anyways, it's called patch Tuesday for a reason.

Crowdstrike Falcon and Windows is the lethal combo on both server and clients.

On top of that, Azure Central US was down as someone fucked up on config and took all the cloud storage away. Impacting all VMs and Office365 services served from Central US region.

Did somebody know about this earlier this week?

All I have to say is, keep an eye on your next few electricity bills for weird usage. Let's just say one of the multinationals that provide remote meter reading service isn't having a good day.

Is the azure outage why I couldn’t play Xbox last night with my son?

Well imagine if instead of writing that letter to the editor, she just posts on a car forum for car enthusiasts. That's Kritafo.

So they supposedly service 300 of the top fortune 500 companies. Who knew? Not much longer.

Should be unbanning and using Kaspersky, or go all in on Asian firewall tech - which is rock solid.

I paused all updates for my covid wfh pc that company has forgotten they lent me.
I'm assuming I can allow updates next week? Or am I going to have to bring it in to IT?
I avoided the crowdstrike update but will it all be corrected for future updates?
