So what are you guys carrying in your truck when you go wheeling? I've got the following:

    - Tree strap
    - Snatch block
    - 3/4" shackles

Anyone out there using kinetic ropes?

    black j,

do you mount the hi-lift or throw it in the truck?

i'm thinking about welding a cradle on my brush bar and mounting it there. just trying to get some ideas.

If you go to national 4wd. They have a set of mounting hardware universal for any hi-lift. I think its about 30 bux. Its hardly worth the effort to weld it yourself for that price.

If you are going to carry a Hi-Lift, make sure you have the bumpers that'll support its use. Most stock bumpers would simply fold or rip off.

Werd. Those things are frigging heavy. I was originally thinking about mounting it on the roof rack, but it was just too much of a PITA and I don't want to risk smashing the window. I'm thinking about mounting to my TJM front bumper, right above the fairlead.

I think that he's refering to the fact that stock bumpers do not have good lift points. A hi lift only weighs apprx 15 lbs. You could mount it anywhere you want.

A 48" hi-lift weighs 30lb. Maybe you are thinking Kg.

I've carried mine on the roof rack when wheeling and now just bolt it to the board under the canopy.

Try the 4 foot jack in the garage to make sure it's long enough to lift the truck. If you have a flexy suspension , you may have to go to the 5 foot model

I'm obviously a poor estimator of weight. But the point is that a roof can easily support a hi-lift if its mounted properly.
