Default Winter tire for SUV/Van question

I'm going to keep my dad's van for this winter, he had a set of studded winter tires on ugly black steel rims, but those tires are going into their 5th winter season and due to being cheapo in the first place are pretty much done.

It has like new Nokian all seasons on the factory wheels, and they are a great tire for a Pacifica, really decent and quiet tires at 115 km/hr cruising speed.

I'm looking at the studded Nokian Hakkapelitta 10 SUV studded tires. Anyone here run Nokian studded on a van/suv/etc in the winter?
I know Nokian has a huge rep, just want to be sure I'm getting the best and that there isn't any issues I've not read about and missed.
They aren't that expensive, they quoted me $1200 after tax for 4 installed on the new aluminum wheels I've got with TPMS sensors. Can I do better than that?

That’s what we run on our sienna. Invincibly good. We look forward to the worst weather.

Unfortunately kal tire has a monopoly on nokians. Look into the Bridgestone blizzaks or michelin x ice north as well. What size are your tires

I'd use Tirebob for sure if I was in Calgary, but I'm 7 hours away ATM. Next year.

Thanks Rage2, exactly what I wanted to hear.

Kal Tire is the only option really near me other than Canadian tire (not only no, but fuck no).

I’ve historically always ran Blizzaks on my SUV’s and Trucks, but this year decided to try out Conti Viking 7’s, they seem to have good reviews.

Continental IceContact XTRM is a great option, made and sold for Canada only. Michelin X-Ice North 4 also great. Lots of comparable options to Hakkas without having to go through the Kal Tire bullshit.

Too bad you're so far away. Canadian Tire sells plenty of options and you don't have to get them installed there.

I made the mistake of recently buying tires from Canadian Tire because the deal felt too good to be true. A month later and multiple visits back to have them rebalanced, I found out they sold me 6 year old tires that also had a defect they were trying to conceal. Returned those and went to urban X. Do the right thing and avoid Canadian Tire like the plague

I am going to run Hakka r10s on the f150 this winter and I got them from a local retailer for less than I could have from Kal tire … trying out Hakka r5 on the suv…

I ran Hakka r3 on the f150 for the last 2 winters and they were the best winter I have used so far … so looking forward to th r10 this winter.

I went with studded Sailun Ice Blazer WST-1s (i think that's the model) this year for our Odyssey, again from the main man @tirebob

We're changing from non studded Nokian Hakka R3 SUVs which were passable for everything but the absolute worst of the ice last year (obviously down to their last life at that point). They squealed like fuck all summer though, especially with Colin McRae my wife driving...but rather burn the fuck out of them than my summers anyway

Sold tonnes of the sailuns to people when I worked there and never had complaints about them...the studded ones should be unstoppable
