Her approval rating is the lowest of any Mayor. Somehow she has pissed off right- and left-leaning folks alike. A feat really.

I wonder if Sean Chu is running again, and if he does, if he somehow wins. What a big FU to Gondek it would be if Sean stays in his ward and Gondek has no spot since she is running for mayor and will hopefully lose.

Of course, the article doesn't mention the recall petition or her handling of the single use ban BS. A vote split is a real concern though.
I don't think she has a chance even if votes are split. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote

I hope you're right. I didn't think it was possible to dislike a mayor more than I disliked Nenshi, but she's proven that to be false, time and time again. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
Happy Friday.

Won a brand new award in a field of 1. Wonder how much her campaign paid for this one.The magazine has been published monthly since 1891, however Gondek is the first-ever recipient of the award.
"It shocked me, actually, it surprised me completely," Gondek said. "We had a conversation with the editor who explained that they felt a need to start this type of recognition, and I was incredibly honoured to know that I was the first one."
Municipal World says Gondek was chosen following extensive research, personal interviews, and first-hand observations of the municipal sector. Crone says no other Canadian mayors were considered for the award and her selection was a "no brainer" for the editorial team.
"Everybody at Municipal World nodded their heads and said 'Yep, we can't think of anybody else.' So she was our selection," he said.

Not election related directly but seeing who voted for-against on this issue might have influence.
Shockingly, this massive development in Glenmore Landing did not get approved with a 6-8 vote. Naturally Gondek is out there with her smear comments, and Reddit is crying, which usually translates into this was a logical decision not an emotional one.

That development was the poster chld for "we need to change this city" vs, "we like the city how it was decades ago"
Both sides think the other is insane.

Getting out of Glenmore Landing is ridiculous enough if you want to go Northbound. I can't imagine what it would be like with a thousand households built there. I'm sure they would all take their bicycles to work though, and no one would own a car.

Life hack, drive the bus express lane.

Brentwood Rd is a good example of insufficient road capacity for dropping in a few residential towers in Brendtwood mall. The initial study says it's right beside a c-train and nobody would take the train. Surprised Pikachu when everyone there drives lol. It's not terrible on weekends when it's staggered, but weekdays is a shit show when everyone leaves and comes home at the same time. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Meanwhile Glenmore Landing suffers from the same problem although 90th is 2 lanes, it's still a shitty design for getting in and out. And they don't even have the train there yet, just their weird ass Max bus lanes. It's going to be even more car centric than Brentwood.

Not really, the primary complaint from neighbouring residents was the scale of this project and its resulting effect on the entire area, not complete opposition to any construction. The amount of people they proposed to live in that area ranged from 4,107 to 7,049. You're right, that is insane. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
And considering the Max Yellow is the only dedicated public transportation in the area, and a train sure as hell isn't going to get built there in our lifetime, it's like shoving East Village in a remote area and pretending it's connected with the rest of the City.
