    Default Smart Light Switches

Our doorbell camera gets triggered at night when someone drives by if our front door light isn't on. Wondering if there is a smart light switch that can be programmed to turn on/off for dusk-dawn automatically, likely using WiFi.

    Lutron is the gold standard,

Can control it automatically with Lutron automations but also compatible with HomeKit or whatever google calls their shit this week.

I use these to do just that. https://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B09...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I have it programmed thru alexa but the app will allow it as well.

I have a few of these for my exterior lights/christmas lights/etc. They work well and are cheap.

You could keep it simpler and get dawn/dusk bulbs with the light sensor built in. You'll end up down a rabbit hole looking at smart switches and apps etc.

Ditto on TP-Link Kasa. This kit worked for my 3 ways and you can split them and use as regular as well:
    https://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B07...e?ie=UTF8&th=1

It was cost effective to do the entire house this way.

Same here. I've got half the switches in the house wired up and another 15 switches sitting ready to get installed when I have time. I have the lights set up to turn off at a certain time in the morning as my kids leave every light on in the house. I also have the main lights come on at dusk and then use the "vacation mode" to turn on random lights in the house when we are away.

If you'd rather not deal with WiFi and apps, another option is a programmable switch like https://www.homedepot.ca/product/lev...ite/1000132512

I have a similar one that I set up years ago, and it's been switching my outdoor lights at dawn and dusk without fail. Initial setup required programming in latitude, longitude and date, then it calculates sunrise/sunset times from that.

I've got a timer switch like above running my house soffit lights.

But for my detached garage, I literally just run the 3x sconce lights 24/7. Eslow told me electricity is magic and its free.

If anyone wants some Kasa's at a discount lemme know, have 3 dimmers 3 normies.. The dimmer turned my living room LED's into a rave, so i went with another style.

If anyone is looking for Kasa switches I have a bunch of used ones. I switched everything over to Lutron.

I use the Kasa's as well. They are great and app is pretty straightforward to use.

This. Why does everyone insist on overcomplicating things? Forget the apps. If you just want the lights on at night and off at day, get new bulbs with a daylight sensor on them. Turn the switch on and forget them. That's what I have on the front of my house, haven't touched the light switch in years.

Why choose, I have both! But the Gemstones only go on until midnight, the garage and front door lights stay on all night.

Or just leave them on 24/7 if we want to not be poor about the whole situation.
