Mine are about 20 feet apart as well and the rears do make a difference especially for surround and dolby atmos.
Do you have any pics of your setup? I would just be worried that they're too far awayThis quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
They can be a valid option, but you kind of have to pre-plan everything, down to the location of the couch ect. I had one installed in my house, had to make a decision before I had concrete even poured...would be easier in a traditional home with basement access (unless your theater setup is in the basement..). The actual plug in these is recessed inside, so you only see the actual cable coming out through the rubber gromet thing. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
I haven't played around with Sonos is a long time but you used to be able to hook up in any ceiling speakers to one of the Sonos amps to power rear speakers. The Sonos amp could be hidden somewhere such as a mechanical room to cabinet in the theatre and then just run stand speaker cable in the walls/ceiling. Thru the app you can sync it with the sound bar up front giving you 5.1
Speaking of floor receptacles. Have on installed directly under your chandelier junction box in the dining room. So many fucking times I wished I had a plug under the dining table.

If you're going with floor plugs make sure to have some 6" extension cords on hand for when you want to plug in a transformer, the time will come.

if your looking for a wireless setup. I have the sonos sub, amp and the ability to control all my sonos speakers via my smartphone. Doesn't compare to a true 7.1 setup if your a huge audiophile. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
