The IB program generally has smaller classes, students who are more academically driven (group projects, etc.) and is more similar to what you would eventually see in first year of university. Doesn't mean you can't get that stuff without it but the "advantage" isn't necessarily something tangible you see/get just for being in IB.

So, it's an "Honours Class" where the advantage is that it gets the gasoline huffers who will eventually murder someone on the C-train tracks away from the children who just want to get their school done so they can go home?

That's the classes I enjoyed the most disliked the least.

Its another variation, I guess? Honours classes don't really exist in our schools so you are left with AP or IB programs or the regular -1 stream...so you have to pick?

In Scotland, we only had to suffer those future canon fodder candidates for our first 2 years of secondary school (so your equivs of Grade 7 & 8)

Fun fact, there were at least 3 future murderers I went to school with (school only had 600 students total over Grades 7-12 equivalent) so that's quite an achievement

One guy, whom i actually got along with well but, you just knew would end up in the jail for some sort of serious crime. Although I definitely didn't predict him stabbing his girlfriend in the neck with a broken bottle outside a strip mall.

Anecdotal, but when I went to university, IB and AP kids didn't seem to have any advantage.
    They also seemed socially retarded.

Most of the prepper kids I knew who took AP and IB heavily in high school ended up seriously off the deep end in university because between the first year “feeling repeated” or taking credit for the courses by the time the second half of first year kicked in they all got drop kicked in the nads.

Had several friends actually fail out of engineering over it.

That's because Engineering is part of the radical patriarchy and needs to be fixed so that more people with companion emus & pink hair can finally be granted the equity to get iron rings after flunking Grade-10 Marth.

But it's okay, because they will all become physicians and surgeons instead.

I heard they were all engineers and doctors back in their home countries anyway.
