Default Firestick with sonos for theatre sound

I've searched everywhere for info on this and it seems like the only info put there is to setup with a receiver, which I don't use.

I found another way thru Alexa to add speakers etc for the firestick, but maybe it's just for Bluetooth speakers and not wifi speakers, because it can't seem to find any of my other speakers other than the arc and sub.

Does anyone know if 5.1 can be done with sonos and the firestick? Seems like a complete waste if it can't, but i refuse to believe i can't do this. Anyone?

I have a Sonos sound bar and sub on two different tv’s and both use the fire stick. Sonos plugs into the hdmi port on the tv as does the fire stick.

No idea if this answers your question or not though.

You'll need an eARC output to the soundbar from the TV.

eARC on tv to HDMI in on soundbar.
Fire stick plugged into any other HDMI on tv.
Then setup your Sonos 5.1 thru the app

Nope. My 5.1 has been working no problem on other platforms, it's just with the firestick that it doesn't work, so there is something somewhere that I'm not getting.

Yea it works no problem with the soundbar and sub, just not with the rear speakers.

Check your fire stick's audio settings. It might be set to stereo

Well i found some info about setting it up with alexa, still can't get these fucking rears to work while watching anything. But if I go through the audio/video diagnostics to play atmos/hdr, works fine thru the tester.

This is kicking my ass, I don't know what else to do. Everything in the sonos app, fire TV app, everything is where it's supposed to be.

This was my save thought process as well.

I wonder if some versions of the Fire stick don't output 5.1/Dolby/Atmos etc

I don't have Sonos but does the App say the audio type being played through the system? 5.1 is pretty old now so I'd be surprised but eARC should have no issues if it's hooked up.

I mean this is a pretty simple process. It works no problem with everything else. in fact, I can turn on both my kitchen speaker and my bedroom speaker and they work no problem as well, but not the cocksucking rears.

Which has me thinking, maybe I need to add them separately or something, ill try that next if I can and report back again lol

Perhaps the content is not using the rears and everything is working properly?

My old fashioned wired 5.1 w/receiver doesn’t always make noises out of the rears

Yea, I hear you on that. But if I go to Netflix and watch the same 4k movie, it works fine, just not on the firestick.

    Which Firestick?

Most of them do not support DTS from what I understand.

When you say Netflix that is when you are using the TV's Netflix app?

It's the newest firestick 4k, not the max. Yea, Netflix, prime, anything else that supports Dolby works. This firwstick has all of the settings for it, but it doesn't work.
