Default Narrowed It Down, Pick One Of The Two.

i know i've been posting a lot of topics here lately having to do with this, but i want this to be perfect.

what would you pick for a 350 smallblock drop?

    240z

    or

    rx7

(i think the 240z is nicer looking, show me pics of a rx7 to convince me otherwise )

i have 3 grand for either swap.

tell me waht to expect for that price. i've never really looked into a 350 swap before. what tranny do i use, etc?

if you don't have the car yet, I hope you don't expect to make it look as immaculate as these ones do without putting in a lot of money to restore it.

the rx7 has better fit and finish i would imagine, it is newer.

btw, i hear rx7 boards don't take to kindly to those who remove their almighty rotaries, but why not, v8's kick ass.

notice the aircleaner popping through the hood of the rx7? that can be fixed by a new hood such as the t/a style one my buddy has, but finding one may be an issue.

as for the fin, looks like a 2nd gen camaro to me but i could be wrong, you might have to find one to fit your car (no aluminum, to tacky).

one request, don't be like my buddy, avoid underglow.

remember what i said about cooling too, major problem. look into a huge rad, dual electric fans, stuff like that.

final piece of advice, don't show it off by writing v8 all over it or stuff like that. sleepers are good.

    good luck man

You'll find more people who have done the 240 350 swap, and more companies with supporting parts. I know hooker makes a set of headers specially for this swap and I think there's motor mounts that work for sale by various companies.

Rotaries kick ass. Where else can you get 500hp+ out of about 73 cubic inches?

you can probably find an rx7 with a blown motor for about 1500 canadian (i've seen a turbo II go for 1200). now, a v8 and compliant tranny, lets sat about 800-1000 canadian (i know a guy who would sell his van with a 400/th400 for like 400 bucks ), thats what it looks like for your can and engine/tranny combo. thank god for the unreliable engines that are rotary.

i would pick the seven over the Z but the white stripes look too much like a viper to me.

Jbell.. would you be intrested in a 2.8l turbo motor instead? its an 81.. or hell you might be able to take the whole car.. (280z)... honestly i would go with the 240 over the rx7 for a 350 swap

i dont know if anyone wants to hear my opinion but, dropping a v8 in a rx7 may be a quick and easy way to go fast but its kinda defeating the purpose of an enthusiats car. the car is made to handle tight and near 50/50 weight distribution. putting a heavy v8 in it will only throw that off dramatically. if ya ask me and pretty much any other rx7 owner thats blasphemy
by the way i have a second gen mint for sale the motors not bad but could use a rebuild.
pm me for more details. oh and its a very reasonable price.

...the reason for the v8 in a light car is to go fast in a straight line. he said he want's 13's this would get hime there (engine mods required), and suspesion could be tuned when he gets more cash.
