Default Spotted PT Cruiser convertible in Calgary

I ran into a black PT Cruiser convertible on Crowfoot trail a couple days ago (before the snow!) driven by a young girl.
Sorry that I didn't have a picture but just think that the car is not a common seen one (yet) in Calgary.
Its rear is so high that I doubt if the driver can actually see the cars behind it...

I saw one at the Calgary Auto Show and sorry to say IMHO it looks like a basket with the rear bar in the air like that. My other comparison would be to a barbie car, for some reason if I imagine one in pink that's what it would look like. My g/f loves convertibles, especially the VW Beetle one, but even she said this one looks like a half-hearse half-basket

Its a unique style that isn't going to appeal to everyone. I like the PT Cruiser convertibles, and I'm guessing you'll see a lot more of them by summer. They come in two flavours Touring (with the Turbo Lite engine at 180HP) and GT (which gets the full blown Turbo at 220HP). The N/A 2.4L engine is not available for the Convertible . For the price you get quite a bit - a buddy of mine is thinking of selling his truck to get one, so if this thread is really hard up for pics, I'll supply some

You may all hate and whatever that's fine, but if you test drove one with the top down and compared it to other convertibles, the biggest thing you'll notice is its much quieter (convertibles can have some pretty awful wind noise - the roll bar on the PT Cruiser Convertible helps to keep things quieter).

Does the GT version have the same engine as the SRT4?

Yes, essentially. The only difference is the injectors are a bit smaller so its basically the same down low, but up at the top end of the RPM range its starts backing off on torque around 5000 RPM. Stage 1 upgrade gives you the same injectors as the SRT-4.

Edit: I'm wrong. They installed the bigger injectors just like they did for the 04 SRT-4s. So yes - exact same engine

Intake manifold and other small things are different but block and turbo are the same.

We had one at work and it sold the first day.

The one I spotted was a GT Turbo, so it's 220HP?!
Wow, would it be faster than my 330i?
But it definitely is one of the ugliest car in my opinion.

What styles appeal to someone is very personal. I like it - I might even trade for it. Cruising is great as is, but with the top down on a sunny day through bow valley parkway

his is stock so i'm not sure how it "kicks".
That convertible is so ugly. What happened to street encounters of nice cars?
"A nation can survive its fools, and even the ambitious. But it cannot survive treason from within. An enemy at the gates is less formidable, for he is known and carries his banner openly. But the traitor moves amongst those within the gate freely, his sly whispers rustling through all the alleys, heard in the very halls of government itself. For the traitor appears not a traitor; he speaks in accents familiar to his victims, and he wears their face and their arguments, he appeals to the baseness that lies deep in the hearts of all men. He rots the soul of a nation, he works secretly and unknown in the night to undermine the pillars of the city, he infects the body politic so that it can no longer resist. A murderer is less to fear. The traitor is the plague.”

Like the covertible better than the wagon. There's a little hint of Prowler to it.

But I still won't get caught driving one.
