Oil Temperature

K my dads been having a problem with his car. It's a 93 Ford Taurus. When the car is idling, the oil temperature is at normal but when you're driving it and you step on the gas or brakes the guage goes all the way to the top. What is this caused by? Quick fix?

ummm....that guage isnt oil temperature, thats oil pressure, and what you are seeing is normal. Hope that helped (=

some cars have oil temp gauges as well as oil pressure gauges. either way, its almost impossible for the temp or the pressure to skyrocket...so id say u have some electrical gremlin.

when my engine is nice and warm the pressure shoots from 30-35 at idle to 75 at 3000RPM. noticeable jump that's for sure
