    Default Wiring Issue

Ok i have 2 audiobahn 10's dual dvc 4ohm subs that can operate at 2 or 8 ohms, they are 400 watt rms, and i have them both in a dual separated sealed box.

My amp is the new MTX Thunder 801d Mono Amp.
    It does-

    RMS Power 12.5 VDC
    2 Ohm Load 500 w x 1
    4 Ohm Load 250 w x 1

    Dynamic Power 14.4 VDC
    2 Ohm Load 800 w x 1
    4 Ohm Load 400 w x 1

How do i wire the subs for them to hit at a 2 ohm load, and whats the difference with dyamic power and the rms power.

you can only get 1 or 4 ohms

RMS power is what you want to look for when you buy audio stuff. RMS is the continuous output/handling whereas dynamic is max output/handling. Not often do you reach max output/handling therefore making those numbers relatively insignificant.

of course you can run these subs at 2 ohms. Go to audiobahninc.com, they have wiring diagrams for each differnet load running different configurations. I believe in the case of the power specs you are getting both are gonna be rms values. The only difference is the voltage they are given at. In a car system, you rarely hit 14.4V and that is gonna be at spikes if you are lucky. So you should be looking at the values at 12V.

there is no way that you can get those subs together to achieve a 2 ohm load. either use them as 4 ohm (and get "125w" per sub) or buy another 801d and use one per sub.

    You'll like it.

lol, you are a funny kid...
certain amps will not run at 1 ohm....they will light on fire....or just slip into protection

    Bah, protection proschmection.

MTX amps will not light on fire at 1 ohm.

They usually blow fuses though for some reason.

But they will handle a 1 ohm nominal load.

The amp will rarely, if ever, actually see that anyways.

    Mmmmmmm 1 ohm.
