Default Switching to the Fruit Side - Considering Powerbook

Anybody have any experience converting from PC to Mac? Its time to retire the trustly Inspirion 8200 and I'm seriously considering a PowerMac G4 running OSX. I'm an SW engineer write lots of code and such that runs on open souce stuff specifically targetting the LAMP environment. Where's the best deal - the web or a mac shop, would you ever buy one from London Drugs(!)? I am my own tech support so I don't give a shite about that kind of stuff. Any advice mac evangelists?

Know any students? If so, get them to order online through the apple website with the education discount. Mac OS 10.3's nice because it's got GCC built right into it. Or if that's not enough for you, you can always install Linux on it

I'm finally going to get around to ordering my iBook today or tomorrow.
