    Default cav 24 tranny question

Hey guys, a buddy of mine just bought an 89 z24. 5spd! The trannsmission has problems shifting into first. Is there anything that can be done. Were hoping its something minor (another friend of mine had the same problem once and was his linkage) The car still goes into first but takes a few tries. Any help is appreciated

PS. If you have something negative to say dont waste my time! Help only please as this is a car forum not calgary planet

does it go into first easier when the engine is off?

    maybe a clutch problem.

Does it grind when shifting into reverse? If so, the clutch may not be releasing at times. Otherwise, may have a worn synchro gear. Good advise to change the oil and give it a go.
