    Default beyond.ca Track Day #3 In-Car Video

    944 Turbo
    12psi
Leo's the passenger (so quiet, no commentary!)
Still dialing in suspension, this session suffered heavy understeer.
No waste gate dump port muffler (loud!)

As usual, right click, save to hard drive before viewing. You will need Windows Media Player 7 or higher to view!

I actually cut out a lot of the footage of the 911, because I gave him room and went slow after the chicane thinking he'd be nice and let me pass, but he decided it was a race and floored it instead, and a lot of words went flying that needed to be cut out.

WTF, was he seriously that bad? I heard some bits and peices, but damn, what was he thinking? Did he actually think his car was faster than yours?

I think I was just caught in the heat of the moment. I was trying to get dial in my suspension, so I needed all the cornering room I can get. I don't think he saw me in the mirrors. I was only running 12psi, so I think the 2 cars were probably quite even down the straight. I know Fuji didn't see me in the mirrors when I came up on him down the front straight! I had to brake hard!

If I can get the car ready for Saturday's track day, then everyone's welcome for a ride after I get the suspension dialed in. Please take a number!

Oh, and just to start shit up, as you can see in the video, I can drive manual quite well, but I still prefer auto .

Hey rage, just like to say that looks really fun!
But I was wondering if I could ask you a question... Well it goes like this, How did you get so good ?
And I dont mean tell me your a stud or anything but,
going to the track regular, did you take a course, busting up old cars on the street ?!?!?
I would like to get into racing my car like that, but I have never even had the opertunity to try! Do you need a certain license or any proir track time ?
Plus I dont know if I am an idoit but I keep seeing neyond meet of racing at race city but I never hear about it coming up, or ever get an invite or anything like that:
    thanks

Many years ago, I used to be a hardcore street racer thinking I was hot shit driver. Then I went to the track and met this dude named Rob (Tunerworks). I rode with him in his 944 turbo and got schooled... I was hooked from then on. I did one or two track days back then in other people's cars, but I couldn't afford it and continued my street racing antics. I learned most of my skills on the streets, back before there were police choppers . It's kinda hard to do nowadays.

CSCC (I think?) offers 2 day road course instructional classes in May/June every year. You can attend those for 1 on 1 instruction, or you can attend one of our track days that Fuji hosts, and use the 2-3 instructors on site to learn. The cars/drivers are grouped in Beginner/Intermediate/Advanced groups, so even first timers can learn how to drive fast. After that it's practice, sitting with better drivers, learning the car's unique handling characteristics, and so forth.

It's not GT3, so no "special license" other than your normal driver's license is required.
