Default Alderman complaining about 17th ave parties?

This guy needs to find soemthign better to do, there was one incident in what, 14 games? thats not a bad record...

there has always got to be a party spoiler, people are just trying to show support for thier team!!

    EDIT:

theres a poll on cfcn's website asking if 17th ave is turnign into the new electric ave

    http://cfcn.ca

its about half way down on the right side.

I just saw that on the news...they've been trying to make 17th the 'hip' place for like 5 years now...trendy clothing stores, bars, restaurants, patios ect...now the city is recognizing that it is 'the place to be' and its no more? Good lord people, it's only the playoffs, it'll be over soon enough. It isn't like this is all year round

Do we forget that it always takes years for shit to get done be it federal, or municpal? The crowds are generating WAY more revenue than the city wants to lose, doubtful a change will come cause of one bitchy property owner....

If it was your car that had the window smashed (instead of the store) you would have a much different opinion.

17th ave as a trendy place like Kensington is always a bonus. But we don't need another electric ave.

There's been similar complaints bout the 1st stretch and after seeing some of the footage on the news, I'll never park my car in that impark.

Exactly, thats life with the territory. If any shop owner is ignorant to that as a possiblity on the busiest civilian street in calgary, he /she is in the wrong business. Besides, thats what insurance is for.

as for that alderman, she needs a good solid teabagging to wake her up from her dream world euphoric haze of irrationality and ignorance. AlderMAN my foot up her ass.

i would say that there are less business windows broken on 17th ave all year (even with the playoff hysteria)... than the number of windows that are broken for the everyday hooliganism in Forest Lawn, Pennbrooke and Dover

But those places also have a much much lower lease rate and business tax. But, that's besides the point. People say oh cry, but how many postings have there been bout cars being broken into or stolen and I don't hear anyone saying "Oh cry me a river, maybe you shouldn't park your car there."

You know, I agree with Ben and I also agree with opposing views because these shop owners have been there for a long time, before 17th was really that great and all of a sudden they are having to hang out around their store during hockey games. It is VERY doubtful that it will be this busy next year if Calgary has another great post season. It is more than likely that because it has been so long, that it is more of a momentus occasion (albeit spanning a few weeks LOL). The owners should realize that if they want business, they need people. The hockey is bringing the people and you have to take the good with the bad. Saying "that's why you have insurance" is easy to say if you've never owned a business and do not know the costs involved and deductibles, they can be quite outrageous. These owners have a right to defend their property but have to realize that the good for their business in this situation FAR outweighs the bad. Bottom line they should just deal with it because I doubt much of anything will be done in their favor.

i think the parties on 17th are helping shop owners way more than its hurting them... i bet they have seen hugely increased sales, publicity, and essentially Free advertising, because of all the pictures taken.

Why would you say that asshole?

Parking your car downtow is always a risk, says so at every single parking spot downtown (park at own risk, property owner not responsible), but wishing bad things on it is just rude. I never said anything bad to you or made any personal attacks on you, your business or your Car, why the attacks towards me?What I said about shops down on 17th is the truth, what you said is not very kind.

Whats your problem? Disgruntled are we?
