In IT field....Do you need to be incorporated...in order to get a job?

Is there a company that hires employees instead of agencies contracting IT people?

I'm looking right now for a company that hires employees...

You're talking about being a contractor vs permanent staff

If you plan on contracting yourself (IT or any job) out, rather than being a permanent employee, you have to 'become your own company'
This includes handling your own finances (ie. pay your UI and pension), get a GST number, etc.

Just get an good account if you plan to become a contractor.

Otherwise, skip all that and be staff, its a bit easier. But contractor make big $$$.

alot of companies like to contract stuff out now. It makes it easier and simpler for them. Although you as the "contractor" usually get paid a little more, you must provide your own benefits, etc. You must create your own company, and as the previous guy stated, get a good accountant.

If you plan to be a contractor in the IT (especially networking) field be prepared to need liability insurance which can run you about $5000/yr (depending on your coverage).

Many companies in the oil and gas industry have been burned by self employed contractors that had no idea what they were doing.
