i'd say go with a projector, much more versatile, portable, generallly cheaper.
if i had the chance to do it agian i'd give back my tv and get a projector.
It really depends on what you are using it for.
More info
mainly using to watch hockey/basketball/soccer games
and also karaoke, haha
Projector... bulb will blow up in less than 2 years and cost $700 to replace.
What kind of budget do you have? Personally I would go with a DLP big screen but they start around $5k
Sorry no......bulbs vary in price and duration depending on the company make and the model.Originally posted by sputnik

DLP sux ass vs LCD panel. Color wheel is just not good enough. 1 million pixels vs. 3 million...I think the LCD panel clearly wins in this category as well.
I'd go front projector IMO...
projectors also have a lot of extra costs... screen, time to install, more wires, many of them need a tuner if you dont have sattelite, a reciaever if you dont have one...

my cousin bought a projector tv (the huge ones that are in those wooden boxes) and he's had it for 10 years.. but after 10 years.. the bulb is burning.. so you kinda get this fisheye effect around the edges.. like a black haze all around the edge of your screen.
Personaly i prefer an actual TV set. I have a 65" HD Sony, and am very pleased with it. Projectors require a lot of set up time, where as using Digital Video Essentials on a TV will take little time at all to get the levels right.
Check out the Samsung DLP's and the Sony Grand Wega's.

Tons of good info on everything home theater.
i am leaning more towards an actual TV set now, because I will be placing this in my upstairs bonus room (living room), and I dont think that it will be dark enough at all times for the projector to function well.
or am i wrong?
You shouldn't use projectors in rooms with windows, though I would say my screen doesn't look as good in the daytime either.
I was in the same boat a few months ago and I ended up buying a high end rear projection TV. The DLPs and Wegas are great for animations but not so great for dark scenes.
In a few years we'll have plasma DLPs which will be cheap and the best quality so I didn't want to spend a fortune now.
