I believe they are the same sub except HE2 is last years model.

Correct me if I am wrong?

Are you going to the Soundsaroundblowout this weekend?

I'll be there, I hope I don't spend too much

he2 and hx2 are NOT the same....im not quite sure about the differences bu i know for a fact they are not the same...The HX2's are higher quality...its like comparing jl 10w0's to jl 10w3's
No and Im not like them....

here is the list from lowest to highest:
    punch HE2, punch HX2, power HX2
the punch HE2 is rated at 400W RMS. i don't know the specs on the punch/power HX2 but they are suppose to be able to handle a decent amount more power.

no its not like comparing JL W0's to W3's..... JL subs are JL subs. RF subs are RF subs.

    EDIT: here are the specs:
    punch HE2 400W RMS
    punch HX2 500W RMS
    power HX2 1000W RMS

I wouldn't recommend getting the HX2 unless you can supply some serious amount of power for this sub. Like 2000impreza said, they handle 500w RMS, but 1000w peak as well. So unless you have an amplifier that can supply an absolute minimum of about 800 watts I would reconsider. It's not so much that you can get the sub for the same price, but can you get an amp which can drive it?

I actually got the HX2 the first or second year it came out (Rockford's previous generation of equipment). Unfortunately, at that time, I wasn't able to find the HE2 anywhere in Calgary, which is what I wanted. These subs produce some serious bass! Prior to the HX2, I had 2 12" XLC's running off a 250a2 (birthsheet indicated 360 watts). When I bought the one HX2, I also had a 500a2, but never got around to putting it in. Instead, I just temporarily ran it on the 250a2 and it was amazing to see that one sub pounded twice as loud as the two XLC's, even though I wasn't even powering it to it's fullest potential. What made me realise that I made a mistake in buying this sub was when:

    1) My amps shut down from overheating (15 minutes of moderate volume), and

    2) When my headlights flickered and my battery dropped a couple volts on deep notes (again, at moderate volume).

Needless to say, I sold it within a week of installing it. There was no way I going to get a new alternator because of it! Unless you have the funds to really push this thing, I'd advise against getting it. But at the time it was first released, it was said by many audio enthusiasts that it was the best sub Rockford had in terms of both SQ and SPL.

Like "D'z nuts" said, Ha, love your name ........The Power HX2 are crazy subs, a Friend of mine has 2 of them in his Accord, and he needs a Rockford 1000 AND 500, or 800 amp, i forget which one, to power them! , its insane, as well as 2 Power caps, so he dosnt burnout his alternator. It seriously makes your Ears Hurt for a week! .............But i guess you dont need to worry about that now Redline, Since you Bought 6, 15's!!!!!!! you crazy fucker!

Shit, I could only imagine what they would sound like. I never even got to hear what mine sounded like after the break-in period. Apparently after then, it's supposed to hit much much lower.

    The lowdown is

PUNCH HE2's are 400w rms and 800w peak, at minimum 500a2, preferably 800a2 to run it

PUNCH HX2's are 500w rms and 1000w peak, 800a2 to run it (or the bd1000a1 if you can configure the subs for 2 ohms, or find a pair with a lower/higher impedance to get 2 ohms for the box)

POWER HX2's are 1Kw rms (yes 1000 watts) and need at least a bd1000a1 to run - dont even bother getting two unless you are sick

heard the 500a2 with 2 HE2 10"s in a sealed box, bass hits LOWER (not louder) than 2 10w3's and a JL 500/1

but i have to say that the 500/1 and 2 10w3's in a ported box blew the 500a2 and 2 10HE2's right out the door

although the latter setup was being powered by an older Panasonic cassette deck / 8 disc changer and the JL setup used a new Sony CD deck...

installed a pair of punch HX2's and a Zapco AG 750 into a 00 cavalier a while back in a 4 cubic foot box ported to around 33-34 hz...

it shook ya pretty good... probobally would have mic'd around a 44-46 with it's regular tuning

I used to have a 10" HX2 powered by 1000 watts in my MR2...and then I went deaf and took it out
