Default Question for guys with gauges on their A pillar?

How did you guys run the wires and vac hose through dash. Did you somehow get it through the crack between the pillar and dash or did you drill a small hole in the dash? I'm using a thicker vac hose than the one that came with the autometer. Also what did you use as a power and ground source? thanks

edit- This is for a 94 civic if it helps any

it depends on how and what pillar you are using
I have a full pillar so it replaces my stock one and I just drilled 2 small holes to run the wires and mounted a ground wire under the dash.
If you are just using a pod then you have to drill a hole into your stock pillar and run everything behind it. thats all

Run it through the pillar, and squeeze it through the tiny space between the dash and the firewall on the side facing your driver door.

how does the pillar come off? does it just pop off. Mine dash looks tight and not very much room to squeeze anything through. Want to try to pop the pillar off to make it easier to work with.

My A-pillar is held in with lil pop clips...I had to drill a hole in my A-pillar trim to run hose and wires down...I ran the Vac tubing thru the firewall where my speeo and otehr wires grommet thru...and for power and ground I used the fuse box right by my feet...tapped into the dash lights for lighting (so they go on and off with the dash lights) and found a ground in the fuse panel as well...

What gauge runs on vacuum that is 2 1/16, I imagine a boost or maybe fuel/air. I would imagine that they would include some sort of sending unit so all you have to run is wires. That seems like a PITA. I could imagine running a vacuum hose the length of the car in a MR or RR setup.

Boost gauges need vac and the electrical boost gauges with sending units are pricey and out of the budget. (haha always wanted to use the new smilie)
