Default Fitting a car through a doorway

    Hello,

I have been pondering a bit of a prank I might want to do in the not-so-distant future. In order to do this, I'll have to fit a car through a standard doorway. I've had some ideas as to how to do this and what kind of car to use, but I could use some ideas.

    Requirements:
    1) Car must be cheap&common
    2) Car must be made to fit through a standard doorway, which i believe is 36" wide by 8 feet or so tall

My current idea is to take a Geo Metro convertible, remove the windshield, cut through the windshield bracket, remove the wheels, turn it on its side, and take it through the door, then weld/fiberglass the windshield bracket back on and reinstall it.

Does anyone have any other ideas? Thanks for any input.

    why?

I'm sure theres another prank which would be just as effective, yet a lot less hassle.

it'd probably be easier to cut a chunk out of the wall and then rebuild the wall than it would be to rebuild the car.

If you plan on tipping the car on it's side, don't forget about all the fluids that'll drip out.

I have to agree with all the above posts. Why the hell would you want to do this as a prank? There are a lot of easier and cheaper pranks to pull on someone!

I think the prank may be destroyed if you break out the stick welder in someone's house.

why dont you get a crane and stick it on the roof?

I think that's an awesome prank!

I heard a story about a school in the U.S. where they rebuilt a bus inside. Could be a lie...but it's a sweet prank nonetheless

I think most of you are missing the point. The prank is not meant to be easy or cheap, it's meant for people to look at it and think "How the fuck did they do that?"
Sounds like a good plan for what you're trying to achieve.

Would there be a chance of fluid leaks? I was under the impression that most fluids in a car are sealed up pretty well, except for maybe the windshield washer fluid.

cars aren't intended to be upside down, it'll probably leak some oil, maybe some gas.

Depending on the room you might be able to get it through a bay window also.

Instead of using a Geo Metro which is quite tall, what about a convertable, like an old MGB?

Also, I think tipping a car on it's side will scratch the shit out of any floor that your trying to move it across.

I have thought about many cars, but I don't feel an old MGB would be as easy to find or as cheap as a geo metro. In addition, I'm fairly sure that a geo metro convertible won't be that tall from the bottom of the brake rotors to the top of the hood/trunk. It doesn't really matter how tall it is as long as it's less than 36"

That's what I was planning. It would obviously be quite hard to drag a 2000lb car across a floor.

As stupid and difficult as this prank is, dissassembling the car would make it immensely harder, and not really give much benefit. The frame is still the biggest piece and likely wouldnt fit through a doorway without being cut. The only benefit of taking it apart would be reduced weight per part, but with a good cart/dolly and some manpower weight shouldn't be an issue.

Perhaps one of the most important questions is whether most convertibles have the windshield frame bolted on or if it is usually part of the frame. Certainly it would be easier to unbolt the frame instead of cutting it off and then welding it back on.
