    Default Performance Shop?

Is there anyone who can give a good recommendation for a shop to build an engine for a Nissan? <Import Professional?>

Want to rebuild the engine, bigger better, etc. So specifically stronger internals and bigger turbos. Experts in those areas would be good.

    Thanks in advance.

Marc @ alpine autowerks is one of the best in town. He rebuilt ScCab's Supercharged M3 from scratch, and have built monster motors for my 944.

He's also done Subarus, Benz's, you name it. Master Engine Builder .

I wouldn't send my VG30DETT to them unless they could prove they know what they're doing with that engine and have prior experience with them. The VG is much more involved then SR20s and B18s, and not much fun to pull again.. and again.. if its not done right the first time. And those guys at PE haven't been around the block too many times yet... they're still relatively new on the scene.

P.S. Z_Fan, its a shame you want to break open that low-mileage gem of an engine so early in its life, especially when there's probably nothing wrong with it. There are plenty of turbo upgrade options out there that can work with stock internals more than adequately.

    Thanks for the information guys...

Inzane -> It does have low-mileage, still almost 10 years old. It does a lot of sitting around...that's true, *BUT* I've beat the death out of it at the track. I also abused it badly for the last year running too high boost. So yeah, it's time to get the rest of the stuff I have always wanted for this car. If I don't do it this year, it'll be next year. But I wanna do it... :-)

And, unfortunately, I can't do it myself. Because I actually want it back together some day. You know how that goes. I'm afraid if I start a project this big, I'll never finish. AND I've got other problems, like no way to take the engine out. Plus, frankly, it's way over my head...

I hear he's really good, but I also hear if your car isn't german it will sit for months until he will get to it.

That's not true. My car's german, and it sat for months before he got to it .

It depends on his schedule, and of course parts. Since I had an extra car, I just left it with him. If you want to drop off the car when he has you scheduled in (ie ScCab) there is no wait.

LOL! Yeah I know what you mean.

Anyway, I look forward to hearing about what you decide to go with (turbos, pistons, etc.). I won't be able to do mine for a while. I'm getting married this summer, among other things. And I also want to do a full repaint one of these years coming up too. I won't be able to afford the paint job and turbos, etc. in the same year.

Take it to Alpine. They are great there. They usually get to it right away as long as you don't hit the busy season, but I won't take my car anywhere else from now on

That's funny stuff. LOL. I guess I've got lots of time for this project, so I'm in no real hurry. But where it goes will have to have a decent schedule planned out for the car. As far as when it arrives, when it leaves, etc. I want a plan and hope for no surprises.

Congrats on the wedding plans! As for goodies, I'm not decided yet. Going to depend on what I want, what the goals for the car is, and what the shop recommends...so we'll see how it turns out. Fortunately, I don't need to paint the car. I'd like some touch ups done some day on the front though. :-)

Perhaps I'll look them up and see if they're interested in the project. It's so hard to decide where to go. I think I'll talk to a few places about it. I'm gonna have to do some research. Thus, the thread...

    I'll send you a PM.

But next time UPS comes for an order like this, I'm going to the door with lube.

yeah shipping and brokerage is massive sometimes.
but i find buying things from the states is still alot cheaper than going to a local shop. even if you don't get such a good deal, it's still going to get here 4 months faster than any shop can get it to you.
