There was a common and famous style of barrel key lock that could be opened with that pen. I no longer carry that pen and thus haven't tested any locks in years, but I suspect it's still out there.

Not the best timing to pick this up, as winter season just ended, but all of my skate sharpening cards just ran out and wanted to figure out something before spring hockey started. With 3 skaters and multiple blades for 2 of them, I figured this would be worthwhile especially if you account for time spent driving back and forth to the stores. Ideally like to set it up in my basement, but have to re-configure our hockey storage room. Also grabbed a workbench that was on sale at Canadian Tire to make a skate sharpening/hockey tool bench. Not bad at $100 off, $75 of Cdn Tire money and bonus Cdn Tire $ offer.
You will have to report back with the quality of work that does. I keep hearing mixed reviews ranging from it does an amazing job to it completely ruins blades. I suspect its a level or two above those old white fridge shaped sharpeners rinks used to have.

Grabbed these while in Phoenix
Can start advertising to the neighbourhood, I'm sure others would like to avoid the drive/hassle and it can pay for itselfThis quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote

Nice! I ended up getting a pair of PS for one of the kids, and hit a size 13 on Nike restock. Got lucky on mine for sure! This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote

New to me
I tried getting them but couldn't. Tried for the SB 4s too, no luck. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
Picked this guy up. 24" lift height!
On sale for $300 and got $95 back in CT money. Triangle Select+offers ftw
Ive done a bit of research into it, and to me it looks like as long as you check the alignment and dont try to get every last sharpen out of the rings things should be fine. From their FB group, it also looks like bent steel/holders can also cause issues which most people dont check. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote

In Phoenix - Cowtown Skateshop (local chain think "Source") got 270 pairs at each location. Once the line ups died you could walk back in and grab another pair - I of course missed it by a day but it just goes to show how much easier it is to get shoes stateside. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Like I said, I got lucky. None of my raffles hit. Launch day, couldn't get it on Nike or Footlocker. Thought FL had a chance with FLX head start, I got unlimited points but no luck. Was going to line up in store, seems like that was decent as each store got like 80 pairs, but had hockey that morning and couldn't go. Pinged @gwill he only had size 12. Figured it was a L at that point. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
Few days later, just randomly checking Nike site, saw sizes in stock and checked out. Let everyone else know after, and they could all add to cart but not check out. Guess by then it was all over twitter that Nike restocked and bots went hard. Like I said, super random and lucky.
PS size as usual, zero issue. Kids got more hype shoes than me haha.
How much did it cost? My kid complains about dull skates after 4 ice times, so we sharpen way the fuck too much. Math didn't work out to DIY at home. Our sharpen guy at the arena is solid, so we just sharpen before practice/game while he's getting dressed, so it wasn't worth the hassle. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. I have this one and it's great. Perhaps slightly older version with the T-handle.This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
I think it weighs about 347 kg, but whatever.
I am in Vegas/Phonenix this coming week. I need to know things to do and places to visit and for some reason a shoe store is sounding appealing based on this thread. lol.
And nice new ride @Ca_Silvia13 . You're good for a few hundred thousand km's I am sure.
Hmm that's a good-looking unit. Tempting. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote

With the accessories I wanted, came to $1600 all in via Pro Hockey Life. There are bundles on Sparx website, but they all included stuff I wouldnt use and they charge for shipping. Dont know what we paid this year for sharpenings, but if you consider travel time (and comiung back 1.5hrs later) it made sense for convenience. Sparx has a caluclator on their website for payoff, said I would be under 1.5yrs.This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
That sounds like marth...
It's awesome and convenient but I suspect it saves money at the rate of Soda Stream.
Yea that's the thing for me is that travel time is 0. Literally drop off skates, get dressed in locker room, skates ready once all gear is on. $70 for 10 sharpens, which is good for a full season. Only 1 hockey player in the house so yea, math don't work for me.This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
