Default Overheight Trucks vs Bridges - MEGA THREAD.

Almost a funny as the old boat stuck, but at least it happens more often. Overheight Trucks striking bridges.

Now the famous 11-8 bridge is a hall of famer, but that's A LOW bridge. What about regular, full-height bridges? Well don't fret. Chohan freight forwarders is doing God's work in the lower mainland area. These fuckwits have been slamming girders like nobody's business. SIX (6) incidents of one of thier trucks hitting a bridge in under 2 years. Incredible work, legendary.

    Pics from most recent.

Someone smarter than me maybe can explain how a company like this can maintain insurance.

So why don’t we going after these companies civilly?

    What’s a basic bridge repair cost? $5MM?

What I find offensive is this $500 fine

Oversized loads require a permit don't they? Is there any requirement for a bond etc to get these permits? I think that wouldn't be crazy.

I mean, I know trucking in general is the wild wild west, but if you wanna play big Willie style, there should be a higher bar.

Yeah this is a regular occurrence around here. Colleague of mine was headed northbound on 99 yesterday and saw the aftermath. Said it was quite a sight. The traffic backup behind it was a whole other story. My neighbors were stuck in it for a few hours.

The trucks are full of money waiting to be laundered, so they're very lax about these sorts of things.

It is. I've worked to get some modules shipped and the one that was 24.0001" tall fucked us right in the goat penor. It was exponentially more urethra pain to deal with that one module.

What about the mismatched +15 panel. Seems like another kiss from a truck.

The one just left of the clearance sign? No that was this truck, just a few minutes earlier, it was in that lane while driving, then was "pulled over" to the position in the photo. I was walking right there when it happened, and then walked back past it again a short time later. Lucky day for ES.

But most of the +15 bridges downtown have some marks from previous contact.

The answer - ICBC is the insurer and is owned by the government...

In alberta - you hit an overpass you're probably dropped as a client 30 seconds after they catch wind of the incident (I had a friend working at a company that hit the - crap what's the train bridge in edmonton that's notorious?) They were out of business as un-insurable - the very next day.

In BC, here's a 100$ fine (it just got upped to 500 recently) - keep going. The squamish courier company that nailed the bridge in north van didn't even get put out of business when their driver ran from the scene, and didn't cooperate with the investigation to identify him.

    LoL oops!!!
That's not like me to make that mistake, but thanks for calling me out on it. Twenty. Four. FEET. Tall.
It was a nightmare assembled in Stettler that needed to go God Damned near up to Edmonton before it could head a legal route south again. And we had to haul it in fucking January before the Spring thaw because the road bans would've made us stick so much trailer under it that it no longer could've made the last few corners into the plant.

The trucking Co. helped us with permitting from I think about 8 different entities, counties, RoW owners and other authorities. It was a baffling ordeal.
